There really doesn't seem to be that much to talk about right now. It was not surprsing that we lost on Sunday. Also, that loss will not even be close to our worst defeat this season. People go from talking about the team as champions to deadbeats in the space of a week. IMO they are neither. They are developing and are not the only average team in the competition. My hope is we squeeze into the 8 with a little momentum and then we can hope for the best.
IMO your best ever post mate, I agree with it 100%, especially about the expectations.

The tanty stuff was a geeup from me and more aimed at a lot of posters, I opened the iPad thingy and was bombarded with tear ups, you just were in the firing line. I have learnt from past on these forums that very few of the "next big thangs" ever eventuate, well at this club at least.

I want to see this kid play in top company but I really believe we could destroy him if we rush him when he's obviously not 100%. Look at Hayne, and he's a seasoned international. I reckon Smiffy knows that anyway. Patience is the key IMO.

Do you remember the MrWong in Hong Kong ads??? Some of my best work IMO.

    You know it makes sense.

Praise be to Freddy if he's 5/8th.
Funnily enough one of the trainers said to me Morts is the fittest player in the team and can run and run and run...

Makes you wonder why he isn't playing the full 80??

Labia, this is going to be my stock standard response to anything to do with selections of the team.

          "Brian Smith is incompetent."

I think it will save time in the end.

C'mon, smithy is rebuilding the team. He needs another couple of years to rebuild. He needs longer to rebuild the team than it took the egyptians to build the pyramids.

Fred, it took a 5 odd years of shyte coaching to get the team to such a low point where it needed rebuilding and Smith was bought in (the back years of Stuart, Anderson & Fittler). So don't be surprised when it takes as long to build it back up for the future.

It's a lot easier to bring a team down than it is to build it up again.

Smith is doing a fair job of it, especially with the younguns. But you can't put old heads on young shoulders any more than you put young legs on old players.

If it was up to Smith I doubt Anasta would still be here, that was Politis' doing. But he has do deal with the cards he's dealt.

                  BING! WINNER!
That has always been a problem. Politics in football.
The problem for the coach is that it is him that takes the fall, when it all goes south, even though the players that he didn't want there are prolly the cause of it all.
Anyone putting their hand up to be a coach?

                  Bath tub & razors please.

This is where a coach like, Freddy help me for saying it, Wayne Bennett would be worth the bullshit.

If Nathan "One day the fat will rise up and strangle me" Tinkler ever tried to manipulate the team the Cadaverous one would tell him to get stuffed or quit.

If Brian Smith was half a coach and not incompetent like I think then he would have stood up to Nick Politis (if he's keeping Anasta in the side) and said Anasta would be history.

But as he seems to be incompetent like I think then we're stuck with the above mentioned player.

I will start to rethink my statements if Daniel Mortimer plays 5/8th on Sunday.

Like the rest of us John, Brian Smith would like to keep his employment, which he won't do if he gets Politis offside.

Given the choice of keeping his job and putting up with Anasta or not having a job and Anasta still being in the side, Brian Smith made the practical decision to contine with his employment and his not insignificant salary.

Whether or not Brian Smith is coach, Anasta would still be in the side - the big Greek would demand it, and he is the one bankrolling the joint.

I love Nick Politis, as I've said the two people who saved the Roosters club were Uncle Nick and Ron Jones. And Nick Politis brought in Ron Jones.

But if he's interfering with the running of the team, he might need to go.

And dare I remind people that it's the CEO of the Roosters who should act as the go-between the owner and the coach. Where is Steve Noyce in all this?
