  • Bye Bye Ogre

I am sad to say the Ogre has all but sealed a new contract over in England joining fellow Rooster Fitzy. He hasn't really accomplished anything since coming to the Roosters but has been rock solid game in game out.

The good news is we have freed up our salary cap even more

    All the best Ogre.

Sydney Roosters prop Mark O'Meley signs with Super League club Hull

July 04, 2009 Sydney Roosters prop Mark O'Meley has been released from the final year of his NRL contract and will join Super League club Hull in 2010.

O'Meley has signed a three-year deal with the UK-based club and will play alongside Roosters teammate Craig Fitzgibbon, who announced his departure from the club in May.

The former Test prop will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee this week which will rule him out for the remainder of the NRL season.

"I have had a wonderful time at the Roosters and am able to take some great memories with me,'' said O'Meley, who joined the club in 2008.

"Whilst it has been a lean season this year I am excited about the future of the club and the young players that we have coming through.

"I am sad to be leaving but am looking forward to the experience over in the UK and it will be nice to be there alongside Fitzy and our families.''

Coach Brad Fittler said O'Meley's leadership will be greatly missed.

"Whilst the Roosters are disappointed that he won't be with the club next year it is a great opportunity for Mark and his family to experience life in the UK,'' Fittler said.

Thank goodness. O'meley is a top player but hasn't coped with the quicker play-the-balls due to two refs. As we saw last night with our tiring forward pack despite a compressed defence, we still have a long way to go in resolving our issues.

I also feel sorry for him. As it appears it isnt really his fault he has been aweful its the 2 ref system. No longer is NRL about bashing the other team, its all about speed now which ogre does not have.

The game has been about speed since the ten metre rule came in.

its good i kno someone else who also feels sorry for him.
i agree, i hate the 2 ref thing. I dont even think its helped the game that much. Refs and the touchy people are still missing so many calls which proves it hasnt made much of a difference. And yeah ogre doesnt have speed but he's a big man

And we replace him and Fitzy with Daniel Conn, just because Nate Myles wants a friend here.
