You don't like it when all your nrlw threads are sidetracked by other members distaste.............here they have a chance to vent.
If people dont comment here you can use that as a "point" against them when you start lots of threads on the subject later in the year.

Take it as a challenge................see if you can contribute without using the words "dinosaur" or "misogynist" ?

Anyway, I agree with your point that most fans of clubs that aren't represented would rather be in it.
    I'm glad we are.

    Fire up the rolls royce
The NRLW is here to stay and the expansion of the Women's game is on high on the NRL Agenda which those "venting" don't seem to comprehend or refuse to believe - they are very very much in the minority one has to honestly say.

The Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy Tarsha Gale cup side are through to Next Saturday's Grand Final at Commbank Stadium - can they do the double for the Roosters Women ?

What you say is true.............initially , but the "venters" being in denial is your invention.
The NRL's agenda can be very unpopular.
Those who don't like everything they do ain't ostriches.

          Can our academy team triumph?
You'd have a much better clue to their chances than most.
          I hope they win.

I’ll watch the roosters girls if I’m not doing much else, unlike the mens game which I still watch all the games.

the womens games reminds me of the way league used to be played, pretty straight hard runs, not overly adventurous and becomes a bit of a grind, I don’t mind that.

if the chooks didn’t have a team, I wouldn’t turn it on at all I don’t think. I would never go watch a stand alone game at a venue though.

That said, I don't particularly enjoy watching the women's game, primarily due to the low level of skill on display when compared to the men's game. That's just my personal preference, nothing more. Maybe if I'd never seen the men's game, I'd be more interested in watching the women's game. Who knows.

People like King Salvo though, who has an ingrained belief that anyone who doesn't like the same things that he likes is inferior to him, or is simply "wrong", will say that makes me a misogynist or a dinosaur.

Of course he is a fool to believe that.
Not comparing apples with apples and only fools would compare NRLW to NRL as I touch on below.

I don't agree with your assertion that it's a low level of skill on display when compared to the Men's game though. - Not quite sure how you can compare part time players vs full time professional players and equate that to standard of play for starters.

Of course it would be expected that the NRL Men's standard would be higher with the players being full time professional as they receive all the assistance and then some from a raft of coaches/consultants etc for improving their game and all the necessary off field support -medical/rehab/dieticians/sport pyschologists etc etc etc.

The NRLW players are very much part time players who train 2 to 3 times a week and hold down a part time or reduced hour job during the week - they don't get the above full time support the NRL Men players receive being only part time players.

The standard of the NRLW has improved each year in what is a comp that has been operational for only 4 years.

2018/2019/2020 they only played 3 regular season games before the finals - NRL Men's teams take longer than 3 rounds to get back into the swing of NRL footy as players and as a team in any new season.

2021 season this year was a 5 game regular season so it gave NRLW teams a chance to improve as the season went on - Sydney Roosters for an example were a different team from their first game compared to their last game (GF) - they markedly improved as the season went on the more games they played.

I would strongly argue about the NRL Men's level of skill being considered high though- for an example last years 2021 NRL Comp would have to have been the worst one I can remember for a competitive comp -either NWSRL/NRL ones

The Top 3 teams were way in front of any of the other teams one has to say and even the Roosters with all their injuries , retirements , suspensions and disruptions etc could still finish 5th at the end of the regular season.

That would never have happened in NRL/NSWRL comps in previous years 2019 and back- the 2021 comp standard was pretty poor to say the least.- 2020 wasn't great either.

Many of those teams outside the 8 had/have a raft of players who are really not up to NRL level on a week to week basis despite being full time professional.

Basic fundamentals such as catching and passing the ball for an example - so many players drop the ball cold/make the same errors and cannot pass a ball from left to right or even right to left for that matter - poor tackling techniques and skill levels etc and these are well paid full time professional players who receive more than all the assistance they need to be solid NRL players at least on a week to week basis.

One only has to look at what full time professionalism has done for Women's cricket for an example - they have improved considerably and this will be the case for when NRLW players become full time professional too and they receive all the off field assistance as their Male NRL colleagues receive.

Hopefully none of the Wrestling/Judo and over structured multiple hit ups , out the back with decoys and kick on the last rubbish that has strangled the NRL Mens comp as a spectacle for way too long will creep into NRLW.

Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy Tarsha Gale cup side will play Newcastle Knights in the Grand Final - Will need to play better than today though. Might be without Kalosipani Hopoate who launched herself like a missile to tackle the opposition Tigers prop - on report and sin binned - Not sure the point of contact as no replay.

The week off seemed to affect all 3 Sydney Roosters Junior teams today not withstanding they are all had big wins in their last competition game ( 54-6 in Matts/ 40-6 in SG Ball and 36-12 in TGC)

Ball handling/Set Completions and Discipline were not good in all 3 games.

SG Ball for instance lost the ball 3 times in the next set after scoring /Harold Matts would look back on opportunities missed via poor ball handling/rushed plays and poor last tackle options/TGC made a heap of errors in the first half and lucky their defence was on song as the Tigers Dominated possession and Field Position - 5 or so repeat sets at one stage on the Roosters line in the first half

There was a turning point in Tarsha Gale Cup in the second half one which is very rare although I have seen it back in NSWRL days

Tigers awarded 6 again after the Ball was touched by a Roosters player - The Tigers player fell on the ball on the ground - they were not tackled but they got up and played the ball - A penalty to the Roosters a rare one at that - Roosters then run in 2 tries in 3 minutes to go from 8-6 down to 14-8 in front which kicked them into gear to end up winning 22-8 - 5 tries to 1 -Goal kicking will need to improve.

Girls and young women are flocking in droves to the both Union and League, countering the usual path to the round ball game, and locally where I live, they very much appear to enjoy it, as do their male club counterparts.
The Emily Bronte image of modern women is as defunct as a packet of Capstans.

No I dont watch the NRLW. If I had to chose between watching a Roosters NRLW game & a Roosters Harold Mathews game I would rather watch the Harold Mathews game.
I dont like watching women playing footy but I did sit back in disbelief a couple of weeks ago & watched Ashleigh Sims and Shanell Dargan have one of the best fights Ive seen.

I wonder if fans from other clubs who have womens' teams like Brisbane, St George, Parra etc are all carrying on about women playing on their forums? I must ask my friends/family who follow them..for goodness sake we are the premiers and should be proud of the women and what they achieved..
Agreed. I get sick of people feeling the need to vocalise the fact they don't want women to play footy. End of the day it's a pretty redundant topic as NRLW is here to stay, we're premiers and nobody's forcing anybody to watch it (or sponsor / play it) against their will. Yet they do! The $$$ role in, the comp continues to expand and many people (myself included) enjoyed our fairytale run through the finals.

If I flick through Kayo then there's 100 sports that I have zero interest in. Guess what I do? Same thing as when my wife turns on repeats of Friends every night. Occupy my time with something productive rather than leaning over her asking 'why do you watch Friends repeats over and over?!?' I'm an absolute nutcase but my slightly more sane moments involve doing things that I enjoy rather than whinging about stuff that doesn't concern me.

I'm sure there were plenty of people protesting over women getting the right to vote. Then there was Jean Shrimpton wearing a mini dress at the Melbourne Cup in the 1960's...even the bank I work for had a story come out on International Women's Day about the first female bank teller in Wynyard. It was a novelty and made headlines apparently...

Funny you mention Friends..I haven't watched it in ages but then my nieces and I were laughing about how our baby niece likes to clean everything like Monica even though she's only just turned one. I found some mini clips on YouTube and had forgotten just how funny it was. It's good that you don't nag your wife about her TV habits. Everyone has their own way of unwinding..I'm working my way through over 900 episodes of Sons and Daughters so I'm in no position to judge anyone..funny I just messaged Horrie Hastings complaining about how chauvinistic the storylines were..one of the girls in it wanted to go to uni and use a computer! Her husband had a meltdown...this was filmed in the 1980's not the 1880's...
