Why does Phil Gould hate the Roosters now?

Gus seems to have dropped of us for awhile now, he was cheerleading the panthers for the last few years and obviously on the dogs payroll now.
I think someome mentioned that he wasn't as tight with Uncle Nick anymore.

I quite like it when Brandy is co-commentating with Warren Smith or Vossy. Ennis makes my ears bleed.

Alexander is too negatively geared for me nowadays, lighten up champion.

I don't mind Warren Smith and used to be big fan of voss but he can be quite irritating.

I'd rather listen to my washing machine than Ennis, he should be commentating on the WWE or something.

I wish we had just clear factual commentators..who don't yell..like when I used to watch Eddie Charlton on Pot Black with Dad..everyone was just civil and professional. George Constanza was right..it's not fair they give those jobs to ex players...

I liked Robbo's comment about Joey in the presser. It was something like 'yep... his job is to comment on our game, not to coach the Roosters'.

Even Sticky had more class than the media pundits on the weekend. When the interview turned into people baiting him to get angry about the game he pretty much said 'fark me dead... no... no comment about that... is that seriously all you guys wanna talk about?'

I switched from Ch9 to Fox on Monday as I found them simply unbearable.

Johns kept going on about how many Saints supporters there were just in spite because SBW disagreed with him. Like it was sooo obvious he kept saying it just to piss of SBW.

Ennis has excellent footy knowledge but his fascination with players ‘injecting themselves’ drives me mad. Leave the Sharks days behind son!

I hadn’t watched ch9 at home for something like 12 years.
If I have no other option to watch the footy on 9 I turn it on mute and the same for Fox.
The only saving grace for ch9 is Danika Mason even though her pants are always too long. Ch 9 wardrobe has no idea.

It's been quite a while since we have blown any team off the park. I always watch Fox even with Ennis screaming it's better than nine plus the picture is better.

Phil has always been critical when talking about the Roosters because we constantly under perform especially against the weaker teams. Prime example is the Warriors, they made us fight for the win where as the Storm put 70 on them.

ah yes, the great Whispering Ted Lowe. Used to love Pot Black on the friday night watching Eddies Charlton, Dennis Taylor, Ray Reardon & co battle it out. But the true star was Whispering Ted !

My blood boils the most when we go sideways in attack....which unfortunately is the norm for us lately. What happened to power running and playing short through the middle, then shift ? Are we a touch old and slow in the middle these days ?

They changed the game in 2020.
We haven't had time to change our roster to suit yet.
The game is faster now...only one ref, and set restarts where the play just keep rolling on.
Think we should be going down injured all the time now, like other teams are doing.
They have a drink and picnic lunch while their players are being treated.
We are not cunning enough...and need to 'work smarter'...'whatever it takes'.

It's gonna be no good finishing near the bottom of the ladder, and saying:
"But we played the Roosters way".
When the music stopped at the fast and big party we missed out on a chair.

I do that too Zac but not for Roosters games as I need to hear the whole atmosphere. Wish I could just mute out the commentators especially the annoying ones like screaming Ennis and inane ginnane. Vossy is also annoying when he gets onto a topic he finds amusing as he can't help but laugh and carry on about how funny he thinks he is.

But all in all I will take Fox over nine any day and not just because it costs me a fortune and we need to get our money's worth.

I don't think there's any hate, probably an honest criticism provided with constructive feedback. Gould knows that it would not be wise to come out and openly bag the Roosters as the last man he would want to get off-side within the state is ‘Nick Politis’.


There’s still some admiration and care for the Roosters in some capacity from afar but yeah, I do think his overall commentary becomes overwhelming as he tends to speak from the heart just as we do like fans/supporters and he’s probably a bit guilty because he puts on his “coaches hat” and says things which makes him sound harsh and very critical.


Gould and Robbo share a good friendship as well !
