They had that function on Fox about 15 years ago. Press the red button. You could get the ref or even just the crowd ambience.

What music do you like listening to when watching footy?

You can probably get rid of it by turning down the volume of your centre channel if that helps.

I used to like it when Roy & HG did a commentary on the radio so that you could just turn the TV volume down and tune into their bantz. Their stuff was good because they just took the p!ss outta everybody and had no clear agenda.

Does anybody do something similar these days? TBH I've sat next to random footy fans at games who know their stuff better than a lot of commentators. As an Easts fan I wouldn't mind having somebody who loves our team (e.g. a Roosters Radio kinda team) do a commentary.

Yea! That was a great feature. Probably got rid of it so we couldn't hear referees talk about margins and what not.

depends on the mood. i listened to radio jazz during the first half of monday's game and a live recording cold chisel cd i'd found on the street during the second ...

I think people actually complained about him a season or two ago when Souths put 60 on us.

Does anyone have any theories about why he's so tough on them? He's been like this for years.
Because he expects more from us like the rest of us.

With major league baseball there are home team sympathetic commentaries. I do get so sick of commentaries death riding us every single game. We aren't even contenders this year - maybe they could lose the tall poppy tag they apply to us.

I think the overall standard in game calling and commentary is substandard. Of the lesser know callers, I think Brenton Speed is one of the better.

Without all the commentators the game wouldn't have near the hype it gets.
The NRL is its own soap opera & all the commentators play a big part on how all of us feed into it.
Gus is sweet, he doesn't dislike any team, he's more of a whacky professor of Rugby League whos knowledge of Rugby League is vastly more than any of us. Some people on here cannot handle 1 bit of criticism of the Roosters yet want to criticise other teams or agree when another team is being criticised.

Speedy is a terrific all round commentator in a variety of sports not just rugby league.
