  • We just turned the corner

    Hear me out.

In the presser, Robbo (very calmly) spoke about past years where our attack hasnt clicked. In those years he turned it around.

Robbo is letting the players do things their way, hes feeding their egos, until it turns out its not working (losses to Dragons and Dogs). Thats when Robbo steps in and gets the players to play his way and they listen because their way has got us rock bottom.

Gus Gould, with a bit of theatre and leaks to the press, knows whats happening (hes been close with the Roosters since he left), hes seen it before and so he fires his dogs up. They play their part.

Give us a month and we will be back to our best.

    Thoughts?

Robbo took a lot of blame on himself in the presser.

Robbo gets paid to coach, players get paid to listen to coach & play to his instructions. Wish I could tell my boss i might work differently to his instructions. It's on Robbo to get us back on track & make hard decisions if required.

So Robbo just wanted to say I told you so to the players. And while he gives them time to figure out that his way is best, he’s willing to sacrifice all these premiership points.

Yeh let’s put Manu at hooker.

Thoughts? The next six weeks is exactly what we need, titans( expected to win, so we probably won’t) but then comes our season defining run, Parra, panthers, sharks, raiders(in Canberra) and storm.

the comp is a mess at the moment, with all teams bar panthers and storm playing poor inconsistent footy.

Will we lift when we play the storm, panthers,Parra and sharks? Or will we be exposed even further.

I can’t wait for this upcoming run.

Luckily we still have Gus Gould around to fire us up by beating us. Him and robbo would have planned that for sure.

Too much about past years - the game has changed it's a faster game now where possession is king.

No use saying you back your defence to compensate for your poor completions rates and high error counts - you don't have the stop start game anymore where players can have a breather.

65% completion rates are not going to win you games of football either

It's madness to continue on playing this way as all the extra defence you have to do only speeds up the fatigue factor. Like a vicious cycle this then has an impact on your set completions/ error and missed tackle counts.

Robbo often's talks about playing the Roosters way despite the errors but there has to be a time where these areas which are contributing factors to these loses are addressed

I also think part of the problem is that the Roosters haven't adapted to the new game as there is a predictability with their game especially in attack.

The top teams have adapted to the new game they play faster with and without the ball i.e moving the ball from sideline to sideline with all players in motion and in support and a fast moving straight line of defence.

They have gone away from the structured play.

Totally agree. You cannot turn the footy over so many times in an era of six agains. Would be hard to do with a great defensive team, let alone this rabble we have in 2022.

Our identity is to win games of footy, win competitions and be at the top end of the competition. We must change with the rules and rebuild a Bondi Wall.

If we hold the pull as much as our opposition we win most games for some reason we cannot nail the basics until we learn how to catch, pass, tackle, 2 minutes in JMK slices straight through the middle as soon as that happened we just weren’t in it.

I can’t understand why we cannot get these basics is that a coaching thing? Perhaps but it’s also our mentality atm we’re not willing to work that hard, like I said in another post our players look at others as if to say that’s on you basically pointing fingers not working for each other, I’m not saying they don’t put effort in they do but they expect to get results off every play, we have no patience and respect for the ball or our opposition this is attitude Keary is totally lost he’s not a halfbacks asshole, Walker is still learning Teddy stifles our attack nearly every set despite his 300 meters today he hogs the ball way too much Verrills tackles himself to a stand still and distribute the ball run son ffs and Radley same shit every week playing like a halfback who’s team is this?

No leadership what so ever Cordner and Friend would absolutely spray the players for this crap where is Tedesco to round them all up and fire a rocket up everyone’s ass he’s the ****en captain but he’s piss weak in this department we need to learn to play and work hard for each other we need a ****en leader we have lost the Roosters way our DNA of years gone by.

Good idea. We're at rock bottom now...new ideas are welcome.

                        Maybe.

I think the issue is psychological for the coach, the abundance of injuries and retirements the past 2 seasons has really knocked him about, from a physical standpoint we just aren't anywhere close to where we need to be - we don't consistently win the physical contest and we don't play with maximum exertion - the physical preparation of the side has clearly been pulled back. Now this could be intentional to weave our way through the season with minimal injuries whilst ramping up for a late season surge but eh it doesn't feel like that - we'll have to wait and see.

we didn't turn a corner last night - it wasn't a positive - the more games you lose the harder it is to get up the ladder.
with 4 wins and 4 losses we're not badly placed and if we're good enough we'll go well. there's obviously still a lot of footy to be played. hasn't been a great start but we've got the same players and coach we had when the season started and we were rightly thought of as premiership chances. form is temporary; class is permanent.
yeah, the next 8 weeks will be tough but you can only play one game at a time and a win and a good performance next week will help to steady the ship.
