Hope you caught some fish mate
Great day! Glad you enjoyed it.

Had a gut full of pies for breakfast and was too full for lunch. Went shopping and bought a suitcase full of food and other goodies to take back to DC. Did a run to BCF and bought 3 new rods, reels and other assorted fishing gear. We then headed over to the local angling shop for the bait. Haven't seen those guys in a long time. Was good to catch up. Popped on over to the jetty for a bit but only ended up with 3 bream. Water is too murky as the place is being dredged after the recent storms.

Came home to some home made nachos which were divine.

Tomorrow morning we will find the fish. High tide late morning so should be lively., Lunch will be kebabs!

I know they love to wear their gear normally to the opening of an envelope but up around here they only come out when there is actually a grand final on for them..not like us...we wear our stuff all year round..
One or two maggot bags don’t make you unfit. I don’t blame the pies as I don’t get any o/s. It’s more to do the the copious amounts of chicken wings, pizzas and fried chicken burgers in my neighbourhood in Virginia.

there’s going to be a fair bit more coming up as well as the hockey playoffs have just started and I’m back in the US on Friday. Footy and hockey… I’m never getting off the couch!

Great thread Thirteen, although the past 2 results have been disappointing, I trust in Trent and the squad to pull through and come together when it counts.

This looks like as good a place as any to drop this.

          Just for a little perspective.

Sydney Roosters after round 8 2002 - 8th place with 4 wins and 4 losses on 8 points. 194 pts for and 149 pts against with +45 differential.

Sydney Roosters after round 8 2018 - 8th place with 4 wins and 4 losses on 8 points. 138 pts for and 120 pts against with +18 differential.

Sydney Roosters after round 8 2022 - 7th place with 4 wins and 4 losses on 8 points. 146 pts for and 128 pts against with +18 differential.

We know what happened in 2002. After a bit of a bumpy ride throughout the season, once we caught a tail wind and the pedal hit the metal we became unstoppable.

We know what happened in 2018. Many questions were being asked at this point in the season back then. There were many doubting Thomas's and much wrist slashing ensued. Despite this, we finished minor premiers on for and against and back to back premiers.

Now I am not saying we will definitely win it all in 2022 because of the similarities to those previous seasons because every season is different, but I just left this here to illustrate that there is still plenty of time to right the ship and finish the season strongly and who knows? We can still give this thing a shake.

It could be worse. Much worse.

Eastern Suburbs after round 8 1966 - 10th place (dead last) with 0 wins and 8 losses on 0 points. 78 pts for and 177 pts against with -99 differential.

I am not old enough to know how dreadful that season must have been but it must've almost been like following Barnstoneworth United considering 1963 (last), 1964 (2nd last) and 1965 (last) weren't much better. Dark days indeed.

Now imagine if there was a chookpen forum in 1966 what kind of stuff might have been said back then.

          Put Junee in at hooker
          John Peard is too small
We need to buy Raper and Gasnier
We need a fast winger like Irvine
          We need some big forwards
          The refs are cheats
          etc etc etc

Fast forward back to 2022 and I reckon it's time for some front door footy!

In 2002 and 2018, there weren’t teams like the Riff and Melb playing like they are today.

Reality is, they are well out in front of the rest of the pack. Strange things happen though and we could be the darkie but let’s be honest and not kidd anyone. Apart from having RWB faith, reality is telling a different story.

Can anyone help me out I am undecided today on how to stand by my club. By that I mean I dont lnow whether I should wear one of the 15 caps I have , bucket hat, 2010 replica GF jersey, the red 100 year jersey that looks a little like a used tampon ( its porous too absorbs the moisture ) or the 100 year polo top. I have other items, but this is now what I have narrowed it down to

Read my posts, I call out performances that should be better or technical issues. what I don’t do is start irrational criticism of individuals motivations or the coach who has won 3 titles or going into some psychosis because we lost. We are not going to be in the premiership window for at 2 years. Let’s not start bagging the team just because they are not as good as we want them to be. They may play shit but I still support them.

As do I but past performance is just that .Accepting medicor just because some perceive we are in a building process is bull.We have the team to win the comp and nothing less is acceptable. As said before changes need to be made .If that's the coach Jwh or whoever I don't care , I support the Roosters and they have been and will be there long after individuals are gone

Precisely. I doubt any former player is anywhere near as passionate about the club as what some of us are.

For example,my main concern is the last 3 weeks Robbo came out and said before the game that we need to start strong and go at them, yet all 3 games we’ve been down early.

So I start worrying that maybe the players aren’t responding, as Robbo’s expectations aren’t being mirrored by the players on the field!
                          Yep, something stinks.

They were great but cheated their way there. At present, no ones being pulled up.

I tend to agree with you in that I do not think we can win this year's competition , the Riff and Storm are way ahead of us at the moment, and based on our current performance, we have got too much to do to catch up to them.
But I am remaining fairly positive, I do not think we are playing shit - I think we are travelling OK , but obviously not setting the world on fire.
In all honesty, I think our side could be in the premiership window in the next 12 months.
Our defence is aggressive and we are muscling up in numbers against opposition forwards.
And from what I have seen in the last few weeks , I really like the third man in around players legs in tackles.
Our forwards (and backs) seem to be doing it constantly, so when an opposition player is standing in a tackle, the 3rd man in is cutting him down and putting him on the grass.
That obviously stops any further metres being made, tightens up the ruck, makes quick play the balls more difficult, and stops the offloads.
I don't know whether this was a Ryles or Robinson innovation, but I did not see it in the Souffs game, but I have seen it on display since.
And if our defence is organized, we can be competitive against the Riff and the Storm in the games that are around the corner..
It remains to be seen what transpires.
But with Brandon Smith in our ranks , and another 12 months development in the forwards that are playing for Norths this year (yes, they need at least another 12 months before they play FG) the Roosters could be making some noise next year.
