we're unlikely to win this year's competition but then no one's odds on favourites to win it at this stage. sure, panthers and storm are way ahead of everyone but a lot can happen in five months. we've had a few teething problems but if we can get into form we'll be there or thereabouts.
the long term goal still is - and has to be - to win the comp but the gf's a long way off and the goal is to win this week.

Read my posts, I call out performances that should be better or technical issues. what I don’t do is start irrational criticism of individuals motivations or the coach who has won 3 titles or going into some psychosis because we lost. We are not going to be in the premiership window for at 2 years. Let’s not start bagging the team just because they are not as good as we want them to be. They may play shit but I still support them.

I tend to agree with you in that I do not think we can win this year's competition , the Riff and Storm are way ahead of us at the moment, and based on our current performance, we have got too much to do to catch up to them.
But I am remaining fairly positive, I do not think we are playing shit - I think we are travelling OK , but obviously not setting the world on fire.
In all honesty, I think our side could be in the premiership window in the next 12 months.
Our defence is aggressive and we are muscling up in numbers against opposition forwards.
And from what I have seen in the last few weeks , I really like the third man in around players legs in tackles.
Our forwards (and backs) seem to be doing it constantly, so when an opposition player is standing in a tackle, the 3rd man in is cutting him down and putting him on the grass.
That obviously stops any further metres being made, tightens up the ruck, makes quick play the balls more difficult, and stops the offloads.
I don't know whether this was a Ryles or Robinson innovation, but I did not see it in the Souffs game, but I have seen it on display since.
And if our defence is organized, we can be competitive against the Riff and the Storm in the games that are around the corner..
It remains to be seen what transpires.
But with Brandon Smith in our ranks , and another 12 months development in the forwards that are playing for Norths this year (yes, they need at least another 12 months before they play FG) the Roosters could be making some noise next year.
      Very good post, roostermcgregor.

Brandon Smith will really help to straighten our attack. Physically he's not unlike Jake Friend.

I stand by my club too but I have to ask?
Why after years of success did the rooster , after just falling short on many occasions realise they needed a top shelf halfback to nail the big moments.
Along come Cooper Cronk and back to back premierships. Since then we have had back to back rookies steering the ship with Flanno and Walker.... I think Walker will be worth the wait in the long run.
Plus we have lost a wealth of talent and experience that has been replaced by the likes of KN Momo Copley
can't be on top forever I guess, it's easy to get used to though.....

Re the half situation I think we got unlucky. We didn't place our hope in rookies - we had a few rookies to partner the guy we put our faith in to run the team being Keary - which was by all respects at the time a valid course of action. Unfortunately a few too many concussions and an acl seems to have really taken the wind out of Luke's sails. I hope he gets back to his best. He just looks still very tentative atm I think. He showed some signs of improvement lately however he is still very very reluctant to dig into the line and as result we are very predictably going sideways.

If Keary or Walker dig into the line even occasionally it would do wonders for our attack. Here’s hoping we can get some momentum into tomorrows game!

Absolutely. I want to see Keary take on the line even just once.

Sadly the opposition has figured out that neither attempt to penetrate the line until we are 10m out

The predictability that both will pass to a runner is obvious.

Keary has lost confidence and Walker is 70kg.. Hopefully time cures both

I'd like to see him at first reciever more often .
The chooks need to take teams on down the middle instead of this 2 pass spread they have been flogging to death
Lui's straight over the advantage line runs this year have been missed.
He would always get the roosters rolling when it was needed

No but I can tell you that Robbo is excited about the game and we’re ready to play.

Excited? I almost fell asleep watching the team last week. They were boring. Yeah the Titans. I'm excited. Not.

If Robbo is excited by this week I would be concerned about his mental well being.

haha thought it was Robbo talking.

Media: Is (insert any random roosters player) recovered?

Robbo: He’s ready to go! And I can’t wait to play Roosters footy.

So we "want to go after them"...again too?

                              • Robbo's presser was one word "ditto" as in same as last week

"I'm really positive about what we can produce through the conversations this week, through the attitude and belief that we have.

"So I'm looking forward to going after the game on Saturday as well through the discussions and a bit of the training that we did today.

"There were a couple of areas that we had to fine-tune and we'll nail them on Saturday."
