If anything, its the Storm that have cap problems. B Smith, Hughes, Paps, Coates, Nelson - and now they are trying to resign Munster - obviously for less than he wants, otherwise he would have signed.

So the 360 team starts to make trouble. make out as if the Chooks are interested in Munster and its causing cap problems. Make out as if theres a bidding war for Munster between Roosters, Storm and Dolphins. In reality, its probably only the Storm that have made him a decent offer!

      Just a thought.
Let Angus go and bring back Matterson for half the wage? 800k v 400k

      Anyone?

Or save the $400k and see if we can utilise Naufahu Whyte and Egan Butcher instead ?

I don't see why we need to go and chase/sign players outside the club when we've got good, young prospects coming through the ranks ?!

My thoughts are it's an embarrassment this gossip mag tripe passes as "Sports Journalism" in this country. And these newspapers wonder why they're going down the gurgler? Do some work. Write some compelling articles. Do more than speculate on who might leave this club to go to that club. It's infantile.

My gut feel on this Munster news (call it Rasta intuition). I think the club is caught between a rock and a hard place.

              The club wants Munster.

But we know we have to move on Keary (and possibly some others) to do it. Because it's being played out MIDSEASON, we risk alienating Keary and potentially the whole team which would basically mean we kiss the season goodbye. So the club see this whole episode blowing up in our face if it goes pear-shaped.

Remember, the Pearce thing happened at the end of the season, so we could move quickly and limit the damage by getting Pearce offside for a short period of time and before pre-season. We knew he would not stay.

I feel for the club. I know Keary has been great for us but I think he peaked years ago and so we've already seen the best of him (not saying he is crap..on the contrary). Personally, I'd take Munster and move Keary and Angus on to get him. Sounds harsh but as Buzz/Kent said, we are an aggressive club that doesnt accept anything other than a GF. No-one is above the team.

              Speak easy mun.

Jacob Preston has been promoted to the Bears a few times from the Jersey Flegg this year so I guess he is next one coming along...

I would definitely be chasing Burton as Keary's successor !
Glad to see this is gathering steam. He's nearly 6 years younger than Munster!

I said on another thread that I believe Munster will do SFA in this year's Origin series.
If the Roosters move Keary, Angus and JWH out of the club to make room for Munster, I will burn my Roosters jersey, and flush my Roosters membership down the toilet.

Fox Sports reporting Keary on $1.3 mill next year. I would be surprised if he is on anywhere near that. It would make him the highest paid player in the NRL.

Surely they can’t be serious. I thought we didn’t go for back ended deals? This constant speculation has got to stop but we all know News Corp will keep going on about it.

I think It's all bluff and bluster.

Keary is the cornerstone of our team not just on field, but a great role model and leader for the club off it. We wouldn't be dumb enough to risk losing him.

For what it's worth Buzz reported him on $850k.

Well if we make a play for anyone Burton makes the most sense, however Keary still has 2-3 years left in him and Walker isn’t getting dropped we’re struggling at left centre, makes sense that Big Joe moves into that role permanently soon, so if a decision comes up for Burton to choose to play centre for the Roosters or the Panthers I don’t think he will pick either unless we offload Keary to Dolphins and I don’t think that’s going to happen. He may well end up at the Dolphins, if they can’t sign Munster.

Off topic, but following Teddy's comment regarding Suaalii's position - I don't see him being switched to left centre for two reasons. First, his right foot step is better suited on the right. Second, at some stage this season, I think Robbo will let either Suaalii or Manu off the leash in that roving role in attack, so I think combinations out there ensure a bit of stability remains while one man goes hunting the footy. I think we'll have to wait until later in the season to see it, once our attack has sorted itself out and everyone knows their role, and as a bit of a shock weapon heading into the finals. Anyway, I guess we'll see.
