We had a good run with injuries in 2018 & 2019...besides Cronk's shoulder.

    *
Teacher's pet team...the refereeing in theiir favour could well be same as in the Eels game.
What was it ...6- agains to Eels 8:1 and allowed to hold our players down all night without much penalty?
Sutton is the ref...his refereeing style doesn't seem to agree with our playing style.

I don't think they are up publicly anywhere.

There's a number of measures you can use for continuity, running it over a 2.5yr period gets a little messy as players leaving can really distort the stats for example Burton, Momorovski, Capewell, Naden, Tamou & Mansour have all played a significant number of games over that period.

The evidence suggests that keeping continuity amongst a core group of players 7-10 over a number of years is more directly linked to success than continuity through the whole 17 or even starting 13. Which is what clubs like the Storm, Roosters and Panthers have done so well. Roosters and Storm have had niggling and significant injuries to that core group over the past 18 months which can largely explain their drop off.

We're either competitive or we're not. I hope we can do a job on 'em. Still not convinced that Nathan Cleary, Liam Martin, Steve Crichton, Isaah Yeo, To'o and Luai are all gonna be highly rated in years to come - I think the Riff's simply having an awesome run, which we're gonna end at some point.

The above are definitely all in form, but the best way for budding Origin hopefuls like Collins, Crichton, Keary, Toops, Butch, Walker...etc to show they're in good form is to beat these guys senseless. (Walker won't be picked in the eyes of most pundits, but I think he has to demonstrate that he can school Cleary/Luai if he wants a place in the extended squad... which it pains me to say, I think he eventually will).

We haven't had a win against a top-4 team for a couple of years now despite consistently being a smoky come finals time. We're good but seem to lack the polish/discipline when it counts. I hope we come good this week... we have a good squad!

That Origin point is a good one.

Players could definitely play themselves into consideration in this game.

Did you miss last weeks game?

Parra has been sitting either 4th or 5th since Round 4. I know a lot of people still think they are pretenders, but they have beaten both the Storm and Penrith away - that's no mean feat and stands them as genuine top 4 material.

Beat the Cowboys back in Round 4 too. Depends what you define as a top 4 side, the "top 4" seems to be conveniently distorted to confirm the argument every time I hear it.

I think the better point is just that we haven't beaten the Storm or Panthers in our last 8 attempts.

Big fan of this. Watson is as close to Rads as you can get so having him at lock would be ideal.

This Penrith game will give us our truest indication so far as to where we are at as a team & what to expect come finals. 2 wins in a row with the Parra win (who are a serious contender) being very impressive.

The Panthers are a step up.

A win or close loss will show we are contenders compared to a bad beating which will probably mean we are pretenders unfortunately.

Correct, from Round 11 clubs are now allowed to use players outside of their top 30. Clubs were only allowed to use players from outside tip 30 prior to Round 11 if there was a need due to covid.

“We have communicated to the clubs that there is an opportunity for them to access players outside the top 30 before round 11, on the basis of the impact of a COVID positive case."

Yes. He can shore up the middle and attack his heart out. When bugged on comes Nat.
Drew covers dummy half and any injuries.

SST / DSF do the prop rotations.

This week will be a reality check. If we can get plenty of possession and cut our mistakes and penalties we might not get done as badly as the storm but the riff are a league above every team including Easts at this stage. I think many of us are just hoping we do not get thrashed but have a close game.

It would be such a shot in the arm for the Chooks if they get over Penrith.
I think Penrith will win because they are a cracking side Kikau is sensational, To'o is just a beast that you cant hurt, Yeo is the forward every club wishes they had, Luai is the mongrel, antagonist & he's good at it, JFH is a younger version of JWH, Crighton is in the Manu league, Koroisau is top notch & gives the best service to his halves, Tago is another To'o & then you have the best halfback in the game which makes him the best player in the game IMO so the Chooks will need to be perfect to beat them.
At the end of the day anything can happen (Cleary goes down within the first 5 minutes & cant play on then Koroisau gets some friendly fire & goes off for a HIA & doesn't return) so its not 100% Penrith will win.
Penrith over the last couple of years have the wood on the Chooks.
I would just LOVE to see the Chooks turn up & play the Premiers in a hard good tight match & get the win, it would be so good.
