  • I thought it was the best game from our middles in a very long time.

Collins was excellent and seems to be getting better every week coming back from that ACL injury.

JWH was the best forward on ground IMO, dominated JFH and Leota multiple times… geez we are going to miss his leadership when he hangs them up. I still remember in that first half when Jared took a hit up and no one ran with him in support whilst on the ground he turned to his team mates and shouted “****ing Support” (lucky Sutton didn’t hear the naughty word), next set he has a support runner and nearly makes a half break. He just sets and demands standards.

SST has been really solid all year and just continued on doing so. Strong in contact, good valuable offloads and good work rate.

Baker provided some energy off the bench and I was really impressed with his defence.

May was good in his limited minutes, I know a lot of people were saying he should have got more minutes but you’ve got to keep in mind it was his debut in a game with finals like intensity. He was clearly gassed at points where he was struggling to get back onside and that 6-again showed he was out on his feet struggling with the pace a little. Got to give him some time to get used to the demands of first grade, NSW Cup is so far off being a proper reserve grade competition. But really exciting signs obviously.

It’s just the edges for me, when we needed them to lay some lines for us so we could play off some momentum it just wasn’t there. Slow, cumbersome and uncreative.

I really liked what I saw from Luke Keary too, he’s not far away from starting to fire too. I know some have tried to scapegoat him a little but there were some really good signs last night and I thought the best overall kicking game I’ve seen from our halves last night. Both long and short were very effective.

I dont think a 'bias' against us complaint will get any traction, however surely there must be stats about this guy putting Jared on report over the years where he later is exonerrated or nothing comes of it. Wasn't this the ref who sent him off a few years back because he swore ...not swear as in abuse the ref but but used the F word in a sentence about what just happened on the field ?
I think it was Henry Penerara at Brookvale

        • In the 7/8 minute of the second half Keary puts a kick in for Sualii who takes it and on coming down has players all over him and gets rid of it - backwards into his own body or the hand of a Panther - it's a bit unclear. The ball is out and Nat kicks it through and grounds it. To me looks like a try but it's not even looked at - we get a penalty as they tackled Joe in the air however I think they should have looked closely at it for a try. Anyone else think that?

Yes but didn't think about it until I watched a replay of the game. Also can't understand why the Luai first try wasn't sent upstairs because to me it was unclear that he grounded it over the line, although if that was the case you'd have thought our guys would have blown up about it.

Yeh I saw that, haven't really gone back and watched it yet. Not sure if it came off his torso or off his left hand.

Dan Ginane another one who just doesn't shut up.
Ennis, Ginnane AND Shane Flannagan. A trio of useless commentators. Get rid of them.

                      • How good was golden boy Nat Butcher the other night lol
Watch his lack of faith in Lindsay to create the break for Penriths first try. His effort on Scott Sorrenston. Nate the Grape does my head in as a footballer

Yeah look I really want to love Butcher but something holds me back. He does a lot of good tough stuff for his size but then i think it's his lack of size that matters.

He gets through a truckload of defence, but has missed a fair few crucial ones, last year’s finals come to mind.

I don’t think that players fear him, so traffic goes his way, if he had some consistent attacking abilities, i could see his value, but apart from the first or second game this year where he did some nice things in attack, I don’t get excited about him in the team.

in a fully fit team, he seems to have a bench spot sewn up, so good luck to him.

                                No
I admire you Lippy for watching so closely & seeing all the things the Roosters did like your example & other things the other team did that you feel was not the right call but I don’t watch the game like that, I just accept that the game is not perfect.
The players & officals make mistakes but the players are the ones who make the most mistakes. I’m not watching the game & coming away so frustrated by how it’s been reffed, I actually wouldn’t watch the game if I found myself trying to find every mistake made against the Roosters, I think the Chooks are good but they are not the best, Penrith are & that’s why Penrith won yesterday not because Keary might have knocked back & they should have looked at it. The Chooks are not at the Penrith level they are not at the top 4 level & people should realize that the Chooks are not Premiership material.
People on here talk up & say how good Egan Butcher is & that he should be in the run on side when in all honesty he’s done nothing the 2 backrowers for the Cowboys are heaps better than him & have got no hype. I think overall Lip that a lot of Roosters players are overrated & that is coming out in their performances.
