What makes me mad about V’landys ball is that all the aggression is going out of the defence.
Guys like Radley who make big hits , are being phased out of the game, with new rules and interpretations
It was on evidence again in the Eels/Manly game. Tupolotu took the Eels winger out with a savage body shot, right over the touch line, then he gets penalised for a
dangerous tackle.
It changed the outcome of the match, because Manly should have had the ball, but the Eels got it instead, and scored the winning try.
Hasler even said so in the presser - the kid got penalised for making a try saving play.
You are not allowed to tackle “too hard “ in V’landys ball - and this is utter bullshit.

The blokes a pony flogger and bloody good at it. Doesn’t make for an expert on other sports though. I like his ability to get things done but he doesn’t have a feel for the game and is out of touch with what league fans want.

Sure PVL saved the game and I ain’t sticking up for him and his ridiculous rules additions BUT he can’t be blamed for the near continuous clusterf**k of stupid rule interpretations by inept on field officials (bunker is another matter altogether) ….the players have got too big, too fast and too athletic and the refs and lineys haven’t kept up …what the solution is eludes me …maybe piss off on field refs altogether …what their replaced with, I have no idea…maybe a laser from the flying camera for the ten meters or something
