  • Side next week

May played solid for those limited minutes he was on. Good leg speed and runs hard and he should lock down a bench spot. This continuous option to use Hutch and Watson at Hooker is not working. We need a proper/genuine Hooker. It's bloody unbelievable and unacceptable that the Roosters are an elite club, contending for a premiership with makeshift/gap-fill options for dummy-half. Ben Marschke needs to be called up to start at #9. Whilst Radley is on the sidelines, Watson and/or Egan Butcher needs to be playing at Lock and rotating with each other.

Is it too far-fetched to think that this side could do a better job ?

    Are there any issues ?

I think it’s safe to say that the Hutch/Watson experiment is over Robbo will more then likely pick young Ben Marshke next week and hopefully for the foreseeable future no recognised hooker hurt us at times last night but I honestly don’t think it would have been an inch of a difference last night our boys fought hard, that 10 min period before halftime we were killed off.

A bigger bodied Hutch worked well during the softening up period in last two weeks against class opposition. It reminded me of Mick Crocker starting big games ahead of Craig Wing 20 years ago. Hutch will start next week. Whilst I prefer Marschke over Watson I don't think that will change either as Robbo has made it clear he is sticking with players that will actually play in the finals.

That team has more reserve grade standard players than first graders. And Watson shouldn’t even make a reserve grade team.

Our problem is that we have looked good on paper for most of the year. I would prefer a recognised hooker like Ben Marschke to start. But I don't see it happening. Hutch isn't a #9 but his big boot has come in handy at times this year. I think that's why Robbo is sticking with him, otherwise he wouldn't be in the team.

With Sitili coming back my only interest is who out of Baker and May makes the cut. Although the judiciary might make that decision if JWH misses out.

Crocker and Craig Wing played in a different game 20 years ago, where the rules rewarded strong defensive teams (not the V'landys ball we have today). Crocker and Wingy were SOO players who represented Aust regularly. Hutch struggles to make 1st grade. But I get your point. Just don't think we have the calibre of player or style of play to execute what Crocker and Wing were doing.

Marschke is a tough little bugger - defends strongly and his service is good. He should be picked in front of two part timers - ffs it's the spine - get a specialist.

                      Stilli on the bench?

Crocker was a rep player at second row. He was a terrible attacking hooker but he was a brilliant defensive Hooker. Hutch served his purpose of keeping us in the game and letting Watson take the field full of energy.

Regarding rules 20 years ago. Last night was a very defensive game. Same with all the finals games that Panthers played in last year (Souths/Eels/Storm/Souths). They don't play touch footy in the big games. Even when we were down to 12 men the Panthers were ruthlessly focused on the grind. We need to get back to being the best defensive team in the comp if we want to beat the Panthers in the finals.

I prefer your team, but Robbo said at the presser he won't be making any changes and is happy with the squad who played yesterday.

I still think Hutch needs to be there somewhere, I'd like him at 13.

He is the only player in the squad that can kick the ball further than 20m
