that's easy to say but both are young enough and have enough upside (esp Sam imho) not be written off just yet.

Sam punches a long way above his weight. He gets in front and lays it on the line in defense without question. He has great service and is good on his feet. An serious-injury free 2 years and give his body some time to develop, and he'll be a gun number 9 in the comp.

Plus he sounds like he loves the club.

You try tying your shoe laces with a finger missing.....it would make anyone tired. But he should be faster carrying less weight....

Anasta and co are judging him on one game.................when he's already shown he can play dummy half.
I reckon Smith ain't too interested in Melbourne this year.
yeah, smith goes alright at number 9, don't worry about that.

i hope crichton stays. seems like we offered him good money to stay and the nrl didn't approve the deal cos it would have put us over the salary cap. angus seems a straight up sort of bloke - maybe he takes a little less this time, stays, and who knows what awaits next contract time. does he bleed red white and blue?

Smith is a superstar and will be brilliant…. It sucks for Sam and I wish him well but we play for premierships

And that’s why he left Melbourne. Was heavily publicised that he wanted to play 9.

I have never seen a sharper passer from dummy half that Sam V. I am not saying he’s the best 9 but you cannot fault his passing game.

We look so much better with his service, unfortunately at the time our halves were still finding their feet and he got injured again.

We would improve out of sight if those 3 would stay healthy, gel their combinations, allowing Watson to play the role we bought him for.

The only trouble with those 4 on the field at the same time is that they all lack one vital ingredient - Size.
It comes back to bondi boy's obsession, but when you have smaller players on the field you are more vunerable
Keary, Walker, Verrills and Watson on the field at the same time doesn't exactly strike fear into me, and probably not into opposition coaches.
When the trend is for all other NRL teams to go for size, and the Roosters are doing the opposite , it may be a concern.

That’s not saying Sam is a better footballer because Smith is a weapon but I don’t think hooker is his best position although with some extended time there he may grow into the role.
Sorry, are talking about the current Dally M Hooker of the year ??

Hilarious hot take from Anasta and co.

Few players won as many games for their club as Smith last year. You can talk about passing, decision making etc but the eye test and indeed results show that when Brandon Smith is given the opportunity to be a regular no.9 he impacts games as much as any forward in the comp.

Losing Smith early cost the Storm the Prelim vs Penrith last year. After that Penrith hammered Grant and made him look ordinary, as they did two weeks ago.
Speaking as such about Grant. Is it just me or does anybody else find him a tad overrated? A solid hooker yes but what am I missing that has him talked up soo much?

Love it! Imagine getting John Bateman back over after his debacle at the Faiders! Would be an absoluteweapon in our side and the butthurt in Canberra would be worth the price of admission alone!

We we would need a fair few solid clauses in place first though.

You're joking right or maybe suffering a short memory. Jake was good but this place used to blow up with the number of forward passes he threw out of dummy half especially towards the end of his career.
