That is one of my favourite games and i wish i could find a copy of it .
    I was at that game

When bucket head (young) scored to give them a good lead, this saints fan next to me jumped up in a frenzy, and crashed into me..........he was full of apologies but I told him not to worry cause we weren't done with yet.
All the saints fans were very quiet when the Cleal bros ran riot.

I'm pretty sure my old man has that game on VHS.

As a kid, the games at the sports ground in the 70's were pretty cool.
40 cents admission to the hill, two games of lower grades to watch while you played footy with the other kids, then cross the playing field to watch the main game from the Turner stand.
At full time the real contest was being first to grab a corner post.

It was a great game to be at, my father virtually called me a liar when i got home from the game when i said they won, he had turned the radio off when Saints lead 15-9 with about 15 mins to go. Saints lead 5-2 at half time in a fairly even first half then Easts got an 7 point try just after half time when Robert Stone kneed Ricky Walford in the back after he grounded the ball from a bomb to give East a 9-5 lead, then after that it was all saints for a while, i remember Dennis Kinchela scoring a run a way try. The with about 12 mins to go Easts were down near the try line and they got a penalty in front of the post. trailing 9-15 a lot of people around where we were sitting including me were surprised they didn't take the shot at goal to put then behind less than a converted try with still time on the clock but after taking the tap Jeff Masterman crashed over from dummy half to make it 14-15 and then after that the Cleal rampage happened to bury Saints. I would love to see that game again.

Strange season that Two weeks out from the finals it looked like we might not make the five then at seasons end we were minor premiers

LOL I was at that game I absolutely tormented some St George supporter so bad during reserve grade that my Mother told me to move away and sit behind the goals around the Roosters supporters. Anyway during the 1st grade when they were winning I went over to se my Mum and say Id meet her after the game at the exit where I was This guy starts giving it to me, who back then was a little smarty ass kid. I laughed at ime saying its not over yet. When we hit the front as the Saints fans streamed out I sighted this guy walking out I ran down the hill and gave him good spray. He says its not over yet and I said why are you going then. It was glorious as he stayed and watched the last try we scored that he would have missed

Funny thing about that guy I used to see him regularly at games whenever we played them and whenever I sw hi we would win

1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.
Carlos played a couple of seasons in Reserve grade. Carlos scored the tries noted in the signature. The 2 against Souffs topped off a day when Carlos ran riot against them and probably chalked up 500m.

I remember one really off day he had for Easts where he kicked 1 from 6 against Canterbury but that is the only off day i can remember, fond memories of him at Shark park scoring a try against his old side and also slotting a goal from 52 metres out. but one of the best and worse memories of him was against Norths at NSO where he broke his arm but still scored all our points, Easts had used their two replacements so couldn't replaced Andrews and he played most of the second half with a broken arm, he scored the only try where he trailed i think it was Noel Cleal and pulled in the pass one handed to score and then with his arm dangling by his side he kicked a pressure goal to level the scores at 11-11. 9 out of the 11 points were scored when his arm was broken, sadly it was the last game he played for Easts.
Panda used to kick the ball so high, it was a nightmare for the touchies with those short Sports Ground uprights !

I remember Warnecke's somersault after scoring a try the week before against Wests. If my memory serves me correct, David Michael was a dud and a myth.

He was very fast and generally reliable - as far as wingers went in the 80s. Compared to Boustead he was useless but compared to Steve McFarlane he was a genius!

I remember he was fast, but also wasn't any good in defence.
