NRL suspends Roosters' Nate Myles for six games for alcohol-fuelled incident
          By staff writers
July 06, 2009 Sydney Roosters' season has hit a new low with backrower Nate Myles receiving a six-match suspension for his behaviour in a Central Coast hotel on Sunday morning.

The NRL released a statement saying they had met with the Roosters club and come to a mutual agreement over the severity of the suspension.

The Roosters have also been fined $50,000 by the NRL due to the number of alcohol incidents which have affected the club this season.

The suspension of Myles comes as another huge blow to the Bondi club’s image, only weeks after coach Brad Fittler imposed a $10,000 fine on himself for an alcohol-fuelled incident in Townsville.

The NRL said Myles "was apparently disorientated and naked in a hotel corridor, and attempted to gain entry into the room of a family who was leaving their accommodation".

“There can be no ambiguity about the behaviour and there can be no excuse,” NRL chief executive David Gallop said.

“The facts around the incident are clear and players have to accept personal responsibility.

“Clubs, too, need to accept that they need to take control of the behaviour within their organisation and as much as the Roosters have acted in this matter the issue of three alcohol related incidents in three weeks, not to mention other offences in the year, is unacceptable. If this had been an official team function the fine would certainly have been higher.

“I respect the fact that Nate tried to make amends to the guests involved and that he rang me to apologise but saying sorry simply isn’t enough.

“There are many inspirational people in our game from the grass roots to the NRL and they do not deserve to be associated with this sort of behaviour.

Roosters chief executive has issued an apology to apologised to members, fans, sponsors:

“This is an embarrassing position for everyone associated with the Roosters but we have to face up to these issues and we need our senior players to be a part of that process.

“We work very hard to reward the faith people place in us and for the most part we achieve that goal.

“Moments like this will only make us work even harder.”

                Seriously, this is inexcusable.

Yeah we can trot out the old line that they are just human, or they are people like the rest of us having fun...........but seriously, after all the shit that has gone on at the roosters this season, common sense has to prevail.

                Fark me !

Seriously Common Sense ! Cut the drink, make a pact between yourselves rooster players, CUT THE DRINK !!!

                      NRL media release
                      Monday, July 06, 2009

                      Quote:
The National Rugby League has met with the Sydney Roosters this evening and agreed that Nate Myles should be suspended until the end of round 23 (six matches including Origin) over his behaviour at a Central Coast hotel on Sunday morning.

The Roosters advised the NRL of their decision late this afternoon.

The Roosters club has also been fined $50,000 because of the number of alcohol incidents which have affected the club this season.

Myles was one of a number of players who volunteered independently of the Roosters to attend a junior Rugby League function on the Central Coast on Saturday evening.

Noise complaints were made against the room in which some of the Roosters players were staying at 3.45am and 4.00am.

Shortly after 8.00am on Sunday morning Myles was apparently disorientated and naked in a hotel corridor and attempted to gain entry into the room of a family who was leaving their accommodation. A short time after his entry was refused and the family had left he was found to have defecated elsewhere in the hotel corridor and was later discovered in a fire escape.
“There can be no ambiguity about the behaviour and there can be no excuse,” National Rugby League Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said today.

“We make no apology for treating each issue on its merits and on the basis of the facts we have at our disposal at the time.”

Roosters Chief Executive, Mr Steve Noyce, tonight said that he apologised to members, fans, sponsors and everyone connected with the club:

“This is an embarrassing position for everyone associated with the Roosters but we have to face up to these issues and we need our senior players to be a part of that process.

“We work very hard to reward the faith people place in us and for the most part we achieve that goal.

“Moments like this will only make us work even harder.”

They will nedd to work very very hard to repair the damage these drunken fools have done to the club.

Just think about it we, all of us have supported the club for years, shelled out or hard eraned on merchandise etc and given a lot of our emotions to the club. For some players its just a place of employment for a few years.
