Off topic but the one thing that has disappointed me most about the modern Roosters is the Club (and indeed Rugby League generally) getting into bed with gambling interests. The betting tag on the jersey embarrasses me. So it lifted my spirits to see Payne Haas take a stand (as opposed to a knee) against the trend this morning.

You have had to experience gambling addiction in a family to know the pain and anguish that it causes and I'm sure that there are plenty of horror stories behind "bet with mates". Maybe you cannot expect better when a second hand car dealer runs the show backed up by a posse from the big end of town but I hope that more players follow Payne's lead. Heaven knows, the execrable Singo has done enough damage over the years with his "a beer, a bet and a smoke" line.

No one forces people to gamble though as they don't force people to drink, do drugs or whatever If a person cannot control such addictions then they get help for it simple as that.
