  • JAC has been selected for years ahead of Toops because of his pace and that he played for Melbourne , if that was JAC last night caring it out from our end he’d be ragdolled every time, Toops not only had a thousand carries, he bent the line nearly every run something our forwards failed to do To’o was just as good if not better on top of what Teddy did and Wighton all played awesome.

Can we lure Wighton over as a centre please? fark he was a beast dangerous every time he ran the ball.

    • Agree with some of the posters here we missed Turbo and to an extent Latrell also.

SMH gave Toops a 5.5 and T'ooooooo a 7. Did he watch the game at all? MArtin (5.5) also had a huge game last night and was far better than Yeo (6.5). Trying to push Addo car back in no doubt.

Did people enjoy watching this game? To me it was more like a game of checkers than a game of chess.

As milanja I think put it last night. Origin has lost its aura. Very fast but it has lost the physical and rough side to it that we all loved.

Idiot of the night on field must go to DCE for his challenge it was laughable. Off field Andrew Johns won that one hands down. An absolute punish to listen to I dont watch footy nine ( no choice last night ) but I now know why many on here have pasted him for his commentary. If I ever hear him commentate an Origin match again it will be too soon. The mute button for me with music in the backround next game

I agree totally. I haven't watched an origin game for a long time now.

              • Just watched the game. Both Toups and Whighton justified their selections. As another poster said, JAC would have been ragdolled at every tough carry. Not sure what any of it means for game 2 but NSW will win.

For me, the Riff boys failed to live up to their club reputations unlike last years series where they ran riot and were able to create for Teddy, Turbo and Fatrell to capitalise on.

Without doubt. It is pretty embarrassing having JAC in all of the SOO promotional posters everywhere, and the haters would love for Toops to have had a shocker last night - problem is he was in the top 3 best players for NSW, so they'll have to sack another 14 NSW players along with him.

Certainly interesting seeing the Penrith halves struggle being on the wrong side of one-sided policing of the ruck by the ref - they are definitely used to the opposite.

                  • How anyone in the media can give to’o and toops such different ratings is a farce, I don’t need roosters players to get the best ratings, but, unless they blamed toops for the try that was scored down his side where he was left in a 2 on 1 situation, then they should of had the same rating minimum.

Are these people serious. They just want JAC back in surely.

                        Yeah defence too...

JAC... you'd be relying on him to swoop in (outta position defensively) and bag a heap of 'Mr Fox' style tries outta nowhere. This doesn't happen as much during Origin as defence is next level.

IMO this sorta issue played out last night with a heap of Penrith players who are used to pushing gratuitous, late offloads and getting away with all sorts of shyte in attack because their playing group has next-level cohesion. The one try on Toops' side was because well... where the fark was Steve Crichton...? Toops had to mark 2 players (arguably 3) and no matter how good he is... you just can't do that when it's the likes of Ponga, Cobbo, Holmes and Gagai (all in one team) floating around. Your whole team's sefence has to be switched on!!!

Toops was one of our best players on that note. He made lotsa metres right down the middle and prevented at least 2 tries with his defence. Put JAC on and I reckon you're suddenly in a world of pain because he's making less metres down the middle (trying to run around people instead) and his defensive awareness isn't as good.

They had an off night - agreed - but they are very good. Penrith haven't lost only 3 games in two years with crap halves.

Totally agree / we need to win two games out of the rest of the season we would otherwise expect to lose otherwise we will miss the 8. Take a look at our run home and do expected wins and losses and we loose more than we win by seasons end. We need to beat a few of the teams most of us would expect to go the other way. No resting this year imo can be afforded.
