I was really impressed with the improvement that game (not you Paul). Part of the game both halves were off the field and we were a fumble away from winning against one of the premiership contenders.

the only issue I have is that we can’t back these games up against the shitter teams

Looks like Angus is getting a reprieve this week

Angus may have played himself back into the Blues?

Cause Ryles is bringing so much to the table with our forward packmun.

There is nobody of first standard to bring in for the under performers. The team will remain as is.

80% of the talent running around in reserves are there to make up the numbers for a small percentage that will go on to have a career in the NRL

NRL expansion plans should be put on the back burner.
If anything they should be looking to reduce the number of teams.

Melbourne are a sensational Rugby League Club.

Melbourne, despite their on-field success have been a woeful failure to the game of rugby league.
They have done nothing to encourage locals taking up the sport, rather they buy all their players from inter state.
They've had over 20 years to improve the local comp, but they've done nothing.

They have introduced a host of new tackles which have had a detrimental effect on the game.
They flout authority by displaying fake trophies that were rightly taken off them.
                    They gave us Cameron Smith.
They lied about poor "innocent" players who thought it was normal to sign two contracts.

                    They suck big time.

This is a great point. The NRL needs a team in Melbourne. But you are right. Who from the NRL/Storm is responsible for grass roots development? I get that they are competing with the AFL, but seriously in 25 years you would've thought that they could have produced at least 2-3 genuine home grown Victorian league players. Even that number is small. Should be more like 50 by now
I dare say 80% of all the Storm players would've gone on to play NRL with other clubs had Melbourne not poached them from South QLD or wherever. Maybe they wouldn't have had as successful careers, but the recruitment officers at other clubs would have picked them up.
If the NRL is going to talk about expansion into cities like Perth, than they should have a plan or set KPIs for those new clubs to start grass roots comps with the long term intention to recruitment and develop local talent. Otherwise we will simply have another Melbourne type club full of stars from Qld and NZ

The team should not remain as it is...our left side defence was a shambles, the Storm went there and won the game there...
...and it wasn't all Momirovski's fault.

Not really, we are a foundation club. Weren't set up in a new state with a population of millions. Where you have a new fan base and thousands of young kids to potentially develop.
Since that time from our 4 junior clubs we have had more juniors go on to play in the NRL than anyone born and bred in Victoria. Hence my point about the failure of Melbourne/NRL to develop the game at a grass roots level

Depth. Gone are the days when you could stockpile talent.

If we cant afford Angus for next year............................
Things aint changing in the short term.

You know we are behind where Robbo planned us to be just by the fact all the origin guys were playing last night, there's zero chance Tedesco played last night if we were on track. It's looking another disappointing season with us going out in 1st or 2nd week of the finals, with this squad that would be an underachievement, we definitely have a top 4 squad.
