  • Clean Out Needed!

It is getting to the point where I am ashamed to call myself a Roosters supporter. Something needs to be done as too many players have brought shame to the club and must be gotten rid of - even if it means we suffer on the field as i think this is the only way that the culture of the club can be rectified. I personally don't care if we lose every game as long as there is some effort and pride shown.

    The following players must go:

Nate Myles - he simply should know better

Willie Mason - he has never known better

Jake Friend - had his one and only chance with the first incident

Earl - for being stupid enough to be involved in such an incident after all that has been going on this year

Anthony Cherrington - was my fave last year but the club simply can't tolerate violence against women if it wants to be respected

Mini - not for any disciplinary reason - but simply because the club must look forward rather than reminisce on past glory

FPN - for sheer laziness and lack of effort

Fittler (as much as it pains me to say it) - the players can't be expected to be angels when they don't have the right leadership to model themselves on (esp. the younger players since the club is relying so much on a youth policy)

Although it might make me seem like a hypocrite - Carney hasn't brought shame the the Roosters (yet) - so i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now

I would like to know what you all think

    I'm tired of defending Mason.

Obviously most people who think Mason has to go have a personal vendetta against him which is sad because despite having a big mouth and involvement a few trivial off-field incidents that were nowhere near as bad as those involving Friend, Cherrington or Myles, he really is one of our more mature and enthusiastic players.

    Mason ain't going nowhere.

And with the state out club is in, Carney should be put on the backburner for now. We have an image and a reputation to clean up before hiring another liability.

And where was Mason while Pearce, Friend and Earl were out drinking....AT HOME thats where, he has sworn off the drink....

Why didnt he take NAte with him......

Don't be so quick to attack Earl and Friend, they haven't been found guilty by a court of law and so you have no right to tell them we sould let them go already. As for Myles, people seem to forget he's only 23, he's not exactly the older wiser player but that's what they want him to become, one drunken incident shouldn't wipe away what he's done for the last 3 years and what we're hoping he'll do for the next 3 years. I think the best solution is a 3 strikes policy, but they have to be serious incidents....peeing in public shouldn't count as a strike, maybe half.

        That would put:
        Myles - 2 strikes
        Friend - 2
        Earl - 1
        Mason - 1
        Cherro - 1

also FPN seems to put in almost every week....dno where uve gotten this idea of laziness

So Carney the one who is up in Atherton and by all reports doing the right thing, should be the one punished for our players indescretions this year by not being offered a contract.

I believe it is 3 strikes already for Myles...

One not long after he came to the Roosters..???

The Mason and Myles having a couple of beers watching the footy fiasco..

            And now defecating in public...

In saying this, I am happy to keep Myles at Easts on a "last chance Nate" kind of deal..

While Carney may be behaving himself for now, surely bringing him to Sydney into a club whose players cannot control themselves around grog isn't the brightest idea.

Carney built his own reputation and it's not a pleasing one so forgive me for being wary.

the grog should be banned - added to the list of drugs that are randomly tested for. there should be a midnight curfew for all players - they need to understand they can't be out late in nightclubs and bars. yes it's unfair but it is the reality of the situation.

also we are on the bottom of the bloody table so i don't see how being out at 3 am helps matters.

i believe myles should be sacked for disreputable behaviour. it's disgusting.

mason, i think should be kept. he's done nothing particularly wrong, at least its seemed he's learnt his lesson.

friend needs to be kept on a tight leash and told not to get into trouble. yes he's not guilty until found guilty but has to be told he has to learn not to get into these situations.

Loz, In Canberra there are not as many people, therefor less of a line to get a drink at the bar, so you can consume a lot of alcohol in a small amount of time. In Sydney there is more people, bigger lines at the bar, which takes longer to get a drink meaning less drinks.

So in my way of thinking.....Sydney will be better for Carney and his behavior, than what Canberra is.

                  Welcome Todd

Surely if Friend acts up again, he's gone.

Nate and Cherro must go. Friend should if his latest incident is proven true.

do u really think that fitzy? haven't we kind of told cherro we would keep him despite his run in? We can't really turn around and say we changed our mind.

I think we just need to make a swift (and public) change in culture. Bring in someone to teach the boys about alcohol, respecting women, violence and such and try and work through it, and make it obvious we are doing so. I think that 4-corners program reflected extremely well on the Knights because they were taking steps to make sure their club wouldnt be swept up in the drama.

If Freddy can come out and say 'we have brought in a counselling program for all the players in all grades as well as the staff regarding the problems we've had in the last 3 months' we can possibly get away with keeping the guys on the roster under the agreement we work to eradicate the problems of alcohol and violence in the club.

If the public recognises that we do not condone the behaviour and are taking steps to get rid of it then it gives us a greater public image and it should elso help to minimise these incidents from happening.

Problem is Witty, actions speak louder than words.

NRL players are already one of the most over-educated when it comes to alcohol, violence and the treatment of women.

But if players do not want to listen, then no matter how many sessions you make them sit through, it makes not a scrap of difference.

That's where the club needs to be tough - if you don't behave in a responsible manner you pay the price in that your contract gets torn up. If another club wants to take a risk with you then so be it.

And Fittler is not the man who will successfully manage that tough stance.

it is probably too late, we shoulve sacked him then and there. its set a horrible precedent. I mean how can we now sack Nate given we didn't sack Cherro. I'd like to see them both disappear in the off season

Anthony Cherrington was given an armchair ride by the Roosters, despite his conviction.

Because he had a foot injury during his court case, he was never even suspended for one game. And then as soon as he was fit he had a run or two in the Jets squad and then an elevation to first grade.

What irked me even further was that the Roosters chose the Women in League round as Cherro's first NRL match for the season.

If Fittler and Co think the other players around him don't register and notice how their team mates are disciplined they're kidding themselves.

Earl and Friend would have had every reason to cry foul if the Roosters or the NRL would have suspended them given how favourably Cherrington was treated.
