Under normal circumstances no way , to young and to early but dam to young Joe has more than proven his worth .Robbo I know it goes against your grain to try something different but go on give him a crack . Nothing to loose and so much to gain

Side note since Staggs got a plug... is he as good as we made him look? I remember the experts' assessment of our last Drongos game was that there was basically nothing we could do because he was so good.

Now we've had Origin and I DUNNO!!! Are Staggs and Crichton in the same class as Gagai, Manu, Holmes and the like? (Add Wighton, Latrell and Pap to the list as they are potential Origin centres). I was personally unimpressed by their respective defence an abilities to break QLD's line.

Makes me wonder if we should appropriately expect more of Teddy, Toops, Manu, Suaalii and Momirovski/Smith/Keighran? IMO since 3/5 players are on the NSW team-sheet and Manu's a Kiwi who's would make the QLD/NSW/Kangaroos squads if eligible, Staggs SHOULDN'T trouble us like he did! Even if one centre is contained, I think our backline's better than the QLD backline and we should expect it to contain Staggs.

Agreed, the one two punch of Suaali and Tupou is one of our key strengths at the moment, I don't think we should be jeopardising that.

The wing role is just so underrated and undervalued.

Suaali played as a centre and fullback in juniors, it wouldn't be trying something new. In fact it's been impressive how quickly he has taken to playing wing given he didn't play juniors there.

            Totally!

I feel like part of Robbo's success is that he was like 'why do we have two highly athletic/explosive, ~195cm dudes who just stand there and wait for the ball while our props get exhausted & create holes down the middle by hitting it up? Fark... get Toops and friends to do a few runs down the middle at the start of sets!!! Why not?!?'

Result? The backline starts recording ~3 dudes with 200+ metres per game on a consistent basis. The physical load's then spread out better, which (IMO) is then important for defence as the blokes sitting in the middle/edges have more energy for our scrambling defence (plus for being a 'second half team' like Mini said was our goal in 2013).

It's a piece of genius IMO. Great strategy that hasn't led to more injuries or fatigue-induced defensive gaps on the wing.

I have no doubt he would kill it at centre but for this year wing is his spot.

I rate him in the top 3 wingers in the comp.

for his development it might be best to leave suaalii at wing and bring him on slowly but our left side defence has been abysmal. his aerial skills might earn us a try every 3 games on the wing but he might stop a try a game if he's defending at left centre plus he's a freak and who knows what he'll do if he gets his hands on the ball in attacking positions more

Which is what we need for our left centre: a big bastard who can play both sides of the ball. Joe could do it easily, he defends too good for the wing.

The Roosters recently won premierships with a big burly gun centre/fullback who has since departed. Time to replace him.

With the Chooks on the edge of the eight and the season unravelling with a ‘must win’ game against fellow premiership aspirants Parra, when will Trent make the call?

                  This week?
Why don’t you write to him?

It's a good read your story - makes sense even - however one problem is that it's a fantasy isn't it - our defence has been horrible - in the middle and on the edges

Anything that gets him more involved has to be considered....

I'd be leaving Suaalii where he is for now, and playing someone who can whackle Staggs at left centre.
                        Whyte?
                        Gus?
                        Sitili?
                        May?
Moses Suli is Dragons left centre...1.89m 109kg age 24.
Exactly what we need, Tongan centre like him.
Toops knows Tonga, royalty was at his wedding...maybe Toops and his connections could find us one.
Staggs has missed more tackles than Momirovski - 39 in 12 games - Momirovski 31 in 12 games,

But staggs has 7 line breaks to Momos 2 , and staggs has 57 tackle breaks ...way more than momos....overall I know who I would prefer...

And 7 of those were against Staggs. Make of that what you will.
