Being right in line he dropped it was becuase he loomed up in support too quickly I was right down the front directly in line with the play Maubbs had to throw a bullet pass to him as he was going to over run him in support Had he not thrown such a pass it would have been thrown forward Had Mortimer timed his run a fraction better than he scores under the postsWhen you trust your television

Looked dangerous running off SKD.
I'm hoping to see some kind of Morimer/SKD/Moga/Aubusson combination developing.
Christ knows the Pearce and Mini show is hit and miss.
Also, surely Leilua has run out of chances.
He should stay back a bit.

Cos that's all I get from that post, unless you're taking the piss.
I honestly don't see how, with our roster, ANY coach could be expected to win a comp.
You may dislike Smiff but you're being irrational IMO.
3 years is the typical time frame for a coach to sift through & develop the player roster
Last year should have been the year to establish a possible dynasty following a GF appearance by most who are presently on the roster
This proved to be a failure & blame was foisted upon Carney, Myles & the usual injuries most clubs endure
The end of last year Smith promised to carry the success of those winning 4 rounds into the off season then take it to the next level 2012
Thus far I have seen nothing which confirms his intentions, it's close to the same roster as 2010 & seriously there are no excuses
It is the start of the season, but that's the only excuse for seemingly sub standard performances that included 2 x flukey wins
The storm will expose whether the coach is wearing new clothes as he states, or if he's naked as he's always been
His contract is not performance based so he's laughing isnt he, who's brave enough to ask Politis."Qui audet adipiscitur"

I can't be bothered arguing the point anymore mate, we won't agree cos you hate the coach.
I dont love him either, I've stated that repeatedly, but my opinion isn't clouded by hate.
One of us will be right at the end of the season, either Smiff will get us to the semis, I know a miracle, or we will make up the numbers and he will probably get the arse.
I wonder what are you hoping for???

Mortimer played very well given the fact that he came into a game that his team were performing very poorly (thats being nice)
But if I watch M Pearce do another televised inside ball to a foward not running onto the ball or try that inside outside move with mini inwhich mini drops the ball every time I'm going to scream, its like a car accident in slow motion, everyone knows its going to happen.
hello!!! why does he keep doing it? it never ever works!! can someone tell me the logic?

there's no hate here, I have expectations as a paid up member as does Politis who has invested millions
I am clearly stating what Smith has publicly said, therefore I expect him to back up what he says with results.
You are clearly in denial & attempting to stone wall me because you cannot defend my claims on his behalf.
In case who didnt know his track record at Parra, at the Dragons, in fact every club before he came here smacks of the same pattern....
what is your case in his defense???"Qui audet adipiscitur"

1. We don't have two experienced middle third players (Myles & Ryles)
2. We don't have a player with anywhere near the creativity of Carney
What you say is right and at any normal club after 2 years the coach should have the roster he wants however I think the 2010 success lead him into a false sense of security and it wasn't until the failures in 2011 that the players true colours came out. Carney & Myles were recruited before he came here and they are both gone for their behavioural issues, to me it seems Smith only really started to get to the real issues at the back end of last year.
If we can show continual improvement as the season progresses and the young players continue to develop then Smith should definitely see out the 4th year of his contract, I'm not expecting any dynasties like yourself. Realistically speaking the development of our youth is going to take some time but it's the only way if we want to remain at the top for a long time. Melbourne, Manly & Brisbane's success is all based on the development of young players along with some smart recruiting.

Aaaaaaand, does anyone argue the fact that Smith DOESN'T have the playing roster he has always wanted???
The number 6 is the first to enter my head, from memory.
He has had to accept players that he has obviously made clear do not fit with his plan. Some he got rid of, some not.

the continuity of the back end has not materialised, given the off season & trial games showed promise, once the real centres are on board I guess the real team may show up"Qui audet adipiscitur"

He can't catch.
Simple as that.
I now think Finch got a raw deal when we complained about his inside balls going down. It was Mini all the time.

Maybe I didn't explain it properly Darknone, or maybe you didn't read the dozens of posts I've made concerning the exact stuff we are banging on about here???
Either way I can't be arsed retyping it again.
R6 has said basically what I've said many times and probably much more coherently than I ever could.
I will add you do come across as having hatred for Smiff. Maybe you don't but it does come across that way to me at least. I repeat I don't love him or hate him but he's our coach. It's a very hard job, coaching anyone let alone a 1st grade sporting team and especially Easts, we are very harsh on our coaches IMO. Dealing with other humans on so many levels and having to get them all on the same page on a weekly basis, it's very taxing. It can be very rewarding at times and very lonely at times.
No excuses he is a career coach, he knows the score and what is expected.
IMO you and many others are too black and white when it comes to Smiff. That's your right sure, but have you ever done any coaching or teaching at any level??? Do you have children??? Cos I tellsya it ain't easy teaching any human anything let alone a club with what 75+ individuals ranging from kids thru to other coaches and staff.
I will say if we go backwards this year, after 26rnds that is, I don't expect Smiff will see out his 4th season, next year. But being round 3 and we have jagged 2 wins so far I can't see the point in hanging the bloke. The only thing I can see is there are some, maybe not you, here that have an agenda and are hoping he will fail. He fails and we fail. IMO anyone that wants Easts to fail are LOL@Souffs.
GO EASTS.
