how about in 97 when there were 12 teams and the top 7 played finals footy.
but you've got to play the rules you've got and if we make the top 8 we'll still be thinking premiership. maybe unlikely, but not impossible.

Newsflash.... you do realize that the teams coming 7th and 8th are both only ahead of us because they have had the bye, and that we are ahead of both of them on for and against.

Unfortunately that's not the whole story. We lost when they had the bye. They still have the opportunity to win during our bye round.
Rabbits v Knights should keep them in 7th and improve their for and against which will possibly be better than ours by then.
Dragons v Broncos will depend on which Dragons team turns up.

I hope you're right and we do make it into 6th but any advantage of a free 2 points from the bye was nullified when we lost to the Raiders.

There's no more Bongdi wall, that was 2013 and they've changed the rules since to make sure that teams with next level scrambling defence can be sliced apart by piggy-back penalties, quick taps (which lead to 'confusion tries' as the refs just quietly allow them before it's clear whether there's even a penalty being called) and B2B set restarts.

We need a new tactic as the game's changed.

having our middle bookended by Crighton and especially sitili destroys our defensive shape. Neither of these 2 ****wits have any idea how to hold their position. Just constantly rushing out, ball watching, and falling for obvious dummies. It’s maddening.

sitili I think at least tries hard but just doesn’t have it, while Crighton clearly knows how to defend but is one of the most cynical players I’ve ever seen. Simply doesn’t give a **** most of the season and only puts in when he feels like it

The solutions to these things are simple.
Coach Sitili, and either don't re-sign Crichton ... or do re-sign him and sort out his mind.
and:
Copy what the Eels and Panthers do.
There are plenty of tapes available to watch and learn from.

Teacher's pet teams do well in the possession stakes.

Mate most of what I post is banter hence the amount . Most of what you post is argumentative and condescending hence the know it all .
I never stated I know everything about anything but I do have a hell of a lot practical experience playing though all grades . What about you old mate or just a armchair .

I really don't enjoy arguing with people on here, but I hate the negativity. I hate it when people bag individual players, with no regard to their paypacket, or the stage of their career, or whether they are returning from injury, or having to adjust to a new combination.
I played footy for 9 years at school, I did it for fun, when I left school and got a job, I didn't play anymore, I worked on weekends. I was never a star, just average.
I have only supported one team in my lifetime, and i have always made it known that I am a Roosters supporter, not just when they win, and living in brisbane for the last 40 years it hasn't always been easy.
I only have one profile here, and I have only ever had one.
This season has had it's challenges, and I feel every loss at least as much as anyone on here,
but I understand we have lost a lot of experienced players over the last 2 years,
we have had a lot of players suffer major injuries and they don't just come back and fire straight away,
we have missed Radley and Verrills for most of the year.
As I have often said, i believe we can make the semis, and if we have our full team available I think we can beat anyone.

Fair enough but I support the Roosters to and have made that clear. I love the players but if they are not performing to the expectations that they should then something has to change and I dont care if thats players or coach . Over 50 years for me and many great players and coaches have come and gone as have many average ones . But I and a lot of others don,t hold the players and coaches to the level you do . Team first for me and the staff , players a distant second . Also as I said anything out off top four is a joke . Top 8 may be the rules now but come on teams are sometimes in the semis that lost more than they won .

Similar boat. I'm just a fan like everybody else (played some footy as a kid but there's a reason I never played/coached in the NRL).

It's a team sport and I get sick of the same old comments like:

- Keary is a #6, not a #7! (Cronk, Freddy and Robbo have all said there's no real difference... #7 just says 'Keary is the more senior half')

- Sack Momorovski!!! (Who for? Naiqama, Keighran or an injured Billy Smith? Smith seems to be back for now but IMO running this sorta line ever game really is cherrypicking a relatively minor part of our overall gameplan).

- Replace [insert first-grade forward] with a bloke from the Bears because he's an absolute beast in part footy!!! (You got May and Suluka-Fifita... now what?)

- Get rid of Teddy and Robbo!!! Both are useless!!! (Sure... got a better coach, FB and captain in mind? I heard Trent Barrett's looking for a job...)

To me the above is just negative and unproductive. I get it that people wanna see us win but sometimes the football gods are @rseholes to us. Sometimes we lose a heap of games we shoulda won and find ourselves sitting outside the 8. As a fan I feel my job is to support the team, not shyte on it...
