  • Drew Hutchinson

I'd really like to know what this guy offers the team. He seems utterly incapable of managing a game with tactical kicks or clever passes. Was it Sitilli or Tedesco who was charging through a gap for a certain try, only for Hutchinson to not even sense they were there and therefore went to ground with the ball?

Has he EVER had a try assist with a last tackle bomb, chip or grubber?

Has he EVER not found the FB or winger on the full with his last tackle kick options?

Has he EVER got us out of trouble with a 60m kick into space down field?

Can he even launch a 40m touch finder on the rare occasion we get a penalty?

In my view, the bloke couldn't pour pi55 out of a shoe if the instructions were on the heel!!!

1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

    Depth.
He isn't our 1st choice half or 5/8.
He isn't our 1st or 2nd choice hooker.
    He is our longest kicker.
But he does his job filling in when asked.
And probably one of our lowest paid playing first grade.

As much as I'd like to say he offers nothing for us I would have to first look at what he offers in terms of his value.

I think we're getting more out of him than what his value as a player sits at for us. He doesn't take up much cap space and is capable at covering multiple positions and he has a long kicking game. His stability is probably his biggest strength.

In comparison to Watson I think we're getting more value out of hutchinson.

But yes, it would be nice if he could do the things you mentioned above but that would probably mean we wouldn't be able to fit him into the cap haha

Always the 'safe' option with us !!!

For fark sake pick Joey at 6 whilst Keary is out and lets play some attacking unpredictable football !!!

I think Tyrone May would be a good addition for next year.
He would be cheap, can play multiple roles, play with his brother and has a good kicking game.
He would be an upgrade on our current utilities atm.

I like him as a squad player for when he comes in for a game or two at a time along him playing multiple positions.

but its been two years on relying on him in the spine and its just wearing a bit thin. having to rely of a reserve grade player (a quite good one) for this long is just frustrating.

I hope we sort this issue out of having to rely on so many reserve graders in the starting 17, or actually have them develop into first graders who dont stuff up every single game.

Every other week there’s a thread either screaming his praises or just straight death riding poor Hutcho. Probably easier to accept he’s a decent half with some obvious flaws.

The dude is depth in the hardest position to be depth. If he was a consistent first grade 7 he’d be playing 7 consistently in first grade, he just ain’t that guy. And that’s no fault of him, he’s levels above anyone here with a steeden, I just think we shouldn’t hold him to the same standard we hold Kez.

He’s probably played 3-4x as many games as he was supposed to in the past 2-3 years, he’s not perfect but I’d say he’s done his job admirably,

he's been a useful member of the squad but probably doesn't make our best 17. the salary cap means a club won't have 3 top grade halves

we REALLY need to start winning some games, the fanbase is losing it

Harsh to be honest. The bloke was signed as pure depth & was only bought in to fill maybe 3 or 4 games a year when injury hit, Origin time etc,but was massive for us last year in an injury crisis season.
Will never be the fastest, most skilful player but to have a bloke like that on at a guess $200k a year is what every club needs. Besides I could list a dozen plodders in our squad worse than him this year & some are stealing far more coin than him.
He walks into the Titans/Dogs/Tigers/Warriors & maybe a few other sides.

Yep multi positional player on base coin & is serviceable & doesn’t seem to break down. It amazes me that nuffies think we should have blokes like Moses/Reynolds/Foran etc as back up players at the Bears for $800k a year just waiting for a game.
Now Watson, dead set not a base wage player & I’ve seriously seen better players in Group 9 country footy. Bloke is the worst signing I’ve seen in Robbos time when you factor in all the jizz talk about him & his wage.
He wouldn’t be a starting lock in country footy.

Not that it means much but didn’t he just sign on for another 2 or 3 years?

Can't bag him. You need lesser paid fill in's like Hutcho. I thought last year he really stood up during the injury crisis. Poor bloke cops a bad deal sometimes.

I think he is our best option for 14, Watson offers little and it shows so far.
