Toyota makes most of its gear in Japan (my head office was in Nagoya - I know lotsa people who work at their manufacturing facilities). When it makes shyte in China... it ALWAYS ends up with class actions against it due to quality issues (which can be dangerous... e.g. the airbag issue that just about all manufacturers had). Yes there's some good stuff made in China with the right QA in place. But like... the CCP has to own 51% of any big company over there. Unless you're talking about something like Foxcon (i.e. electronics that are being made in a room where no human can enter & products are classified into classes based on the presence of impurities pre-sale [which technically shouldn't be there... but... CCP supply chains swapping out copper for cheaper alloys and stuff]) then you can't guarantee shyte.
I drive a luxury model Subaru (made in Japan). Nothing fancy (sorry I'm too poor) but it's never had any issues (in 10+ years) and is a much better ride than the low-end Benz that I described above. Even the finish is better as it's a rugged family car. I cannot fathom why a 'luxury' brand would put purple LEDs everywhere... reminding me of some full hectic, souped up lancer from the 90's (and the back seat's about as comfortable as trying to squish in, while leaving space for their fully sick subwoofer/wiring).
