  • Is it the end for Keary??

Hate for it to be so, but the question must seriously be asked, missing yet another week under the head knock protocols, the poor bloke appears gun shy, his huge strength of hitting holes and taking on the line with a show n go is gone.

    where to next?

Can’t help but think he’s one more knock away from it being his last match That or finish up at seasons end.

      Who knows
I can assure you though we will hear very very little from the club around this. Just a guess based on nothing but if we dont see him against Saints considering we have a bye before then my guess would be he is done

He’s a little bloke too so you’d think he wouldn’t want a bigger forward charging at him when he’s back so confidence could be screwed up I mean he can change his technique all he wants but he can’t change his physical size

I think he will return and play out the remainder of 2022. Do I see him playing out the duration of current his contract (end of 2024) ? = NO

I believe he will 'medically retire' at some point next season which is sad and unfortunate but too much damage has been done and in all honesty, he has accomplished so much in the game already and I don't think he, his family or the club would ever put playing footy ahead of his health, welfare and safety.

PS: I love Hutch and his ability to cover at dummy-half and in the halves to the best of his ability, but the club needs to seriously consider the team dynamics beyond Keary. Watson and Hutch are both solid utilities but not good enough to cement a permanent starting halves role, Lam can't crack the 17, Keighran can barely make the 22 man squad. Walker is doing great but he's still young and he needs a reliable halves partner to assist him as he develops (he can't carry the team on his own). Unfortunately, I think we made a mistake in letting Ronald Volkman go to the Warriors as these are the situations which we knew was a high possibility to occur during this season etc, so we should have contingency options ready. I'm not saying Volkman was/is a world-beater but he would be arguably a strong and/or better contender to step up and fill the void in the halves for us.

This isn't the forum to say this but I really hope we go after Matt Burton (it just makes sense with so many factors) !

I hope Keary recovers well with no issues and I hope he can get back on the field asap !

We play Panthers and then have a bye. It would be season over for us if Keary or JWH aggravated their injuries, and in a game we are likely to lose anyway. Give them extra time and our finals charge starts after the bye.

Long lay off for pretty innocuous hit. I haven’t bought into the hysteria but its weird he’s not back this week.

I thought he would be back after no football during rep round, this is really concerning. I think we need plan B and look at an experienced half to help with Walker's development.

The thing that concerns me, easier said me not the one getting hit, is that it just didn’t look that bad/big a hit and wasn’t like he was knocked out…It just looked so concerning the way Keary looked so concerned as well holding his head.

He passed concussion test at the game and said he couldn’t go back on and now needs a few weeks off..It is a real worry for him.

Great player that has been a champion at our club and I really hope he returns and gets back to his best but his health is the main thing.

Always lots of media hysteria over HIAs at the Roosters.

Ponga seems to cop a head knock every second week but no campaign for him to end his career.

Meanwhile Keary had his first HIA in three years and it's time to retire apparently.

I heard from the same source that first told me that we signed Cronk, that Keary won’t play again this year .. I hope he is wrong, this time.

love keary and sad if his career ends short.

I like drew but he shouldnt be a regular starter, its just another reserve grader in our starting 17 we dont need.

hopefully the club manage this wisely and have replacement lined up if he does have to retire.

                        sad times

Matt Burton looks like a greater prospect by the day.

Hopefully Kez has one more comp in him
