He also sought out Friend/Cordner for advice.

One positive is Keary reportedly has had the barrage of scans/tests and has been cleared by the independent specialist (nothing showed up on scans).

Our club has certainly been jinxed as far as retirement induced concussion injuries go. I see players from other clubs regularly concussed and we hear very little about it. Kaylan Ponga for instance has been concussed several times the past 3 seasons but no media commentary. He was recently knocked out playing for Newcastle and then another HIA for Queensland. We should be proud of the way the Roosters deals with these issues even though it’s detrimental to our results.

Pretty sure Cordner was cleared from those tests too, didn’t stop an retirement though.

Not at all, the fact that he's still suffering headaches from what didn't look like too big a knock is a massive concern.
It's not only the physical aspects but how it affects his confidence. He will leave a huge hole in our line-up as he has been integral to our success if he retires early.
I think we'll be active in the off season to find a replacement.

Luke was 30 in February, married and has a child. He is smart, has a degree and the fact he has sounded out Friendy and Boyd shows he is concerned about his own well being. I would be surprised if his playing days aren’t all but over....sadly for the roosters but his well being would be his first priority.

Would be sad to see his career cut short, but if it is the case I hope the club look to Dylan Brown. He would be a great partner for Walker

james hooper saying that him coming back this year is still an option. the club has a history of taking concussion seriously which might mean that he's had the extra time off because we're erring on the side of caution

I think our recent recruitment hasn't been the best.
Had we ignored Momorovski, Atoni, Naquama and Watson, we could have easily signed Burton to play centre with money to spare.

Luke and the club are likely following boxing concussion protocols where depending on the severity and sequence can amount to spells of 60 and 90 days.

I applaud the club for their stance on player welfare and am not bothered whether Luke is a star player or a bit player.

                          where to next?
I think he retires at the end of the year on medical grounds.
He has been passed fit by the doctors but he doesn't want to play.
2 years of 850k each sounds nice.

Going forward? Do we go for HAAS and manufacture a young 5/8?
Do we put Joey there and bring in a centre?

Do we chase a Munster / Burton?

Luke himself. Medically cleared, but doesn't want to play.

He has also been up here with his family and parents discussing his future. How do I know, I work with his aunt in education and we always talk about the roosters. I'd love him to play as long as he can but facts are facts.

Anyway, many others on here have better info than me.
