That quoted article was from many years ago - I wonder if he ever did get around to paying his victims anything since then? Mark my words, if he does sign with us, the media will be refreshing everyone's memory about the incident, after leaving it alone until now.

If he plays for us and takes a dive to win us a game I will applaud.

Saint Cameron Smith did just that many, many times and is held in elite regard by all and sundry. We are widely loathed, "roosters way" or not.

Well, Murdoch journos are already saying that it's not fair if the Roosters sign him and the NRL will cap the number of games he can play. Pretty big call for a bloke playing park rugby:

"Bishop believes there is a chance the Roosters will only be able to use Lodge for five games.

“For him to go to the Roosters, they say for the remainder of the season on $100,000, the NRL valued him not so long ago at $20,000 a game, does that mean he’s only able to play five games for the Roosters?,” Bishop said.

“It’s very unfair if that’s the case as clubs like the Parramatta Eels wanted to lure him to Kellyville for whatever reason.

“With the NRL putting him at that kind of money, I don’t see how the contract he signed was for $100,000.”

About time we got someone to strengthen up our (when JWH is missing) powder puff Forward pack. We have a few holes but out pack must be one of the least intimidating & damaging in the comp.
Lots of young pups,but seriously doubt Butcher/Baker/May will ever be anymore than 5 out of 10 players & losing SST next year plus JWH maybe playing a half it puts us at a massive disadvantage. I’d be pretty confident the deal is play good this year & we will extend you next year as he’s far above any of the kids & not much else available.
For me also a benefit is getting a bloke who everyone bags,sulks about & has a morale crusade against just makes me like it more. He’s done his time & we had Tets/Fergo/LOD here with rap sheets & then recruited Keary/Crichton who everyone hated ( not crime but hated). I have no issue with what people do,I want Easts to win no matter what & wouldn’t care if Bin Laden played for us if he was a gun.Ive got mates,team mates done worse than Lodge & they’ll always be mates,it’s called life & people go things & make mistakes. He was young & it was years ago with no offended since. Everyone no matter if you admit it or not has friends/family who have had too many drinks then hopped in a car, done drugs, punched someone,slapped a bird on the ass in a club,stolen,cheated etc so to me it’s move on.
I will however admit it does reek of desperation but I’d rather be desperate than be a Tigers supporter & be bottom.
