This is a difficult signing to get on board with. Yeah he can play and we need a prop but this guy is a piece of human filth. I kind of hope he goes well and I kind of hope he gets a double ACL injury and maybe loses an eyeball. Mixed emotions for sure.

Robbo mentioned possibly playing Lodge for the Bears next week as preparation so will be interesting to see how that pans out..

What he did was horrific and shouldn't be downplayed. However, I'm happy to see him play for us if...

- The victims' compo is sorted and either they've bagged $1.6m USD already or they're gonna continue to get a significant whack outta his pay cheque (i.e. him doing what he does best in playing footy is working to pay off his sins... remembering that his failure would mean they get nothing & his wife/kid get stuffed over). He's no saint but he's got a skill that can help others have successful/meaningful lives, so I don't want that taken away from him!

- He's not farking around and making us look bad off the field. He's bought a $2.5m house on the northern beaches (which isn't extravagant by today's standards so I'm not gonna buy into that kinda rot). It looks beautiful. When you're not playing footy mate... STAY THERE and look after your family. Be a good husband and dad. Be a man, not some p!ss weak fool who stuffs around all the time and can't handle their grog.

- He can prove the doubters wrong. For example I remember seeing a training session at the field outside the Belco Raiders Club where Faders fans were giving him shyte from the balcony above. He ignored them, some senior players told them to get farked (politely) and he ended up winning a premiership with us. It's all petty shyte bringing up somebody's past when they've been clean for 5+ years, moved on with their life, compensated the victims quite handsomely and won a premiership. So let's see!

Robbo admits to having a sit down with him, and listening to Lodge's situation and family priorities etc. Then in the press conference when asked about Lodge, where he could have said 'yes we hope he has a future here etc etc" Robbo essentially says "he's a stop gap player option for us given our injuries this season"

So the ball is firmly in Lodge's court. To perform.

After listening to Robbo articulate the potential Lodge signing today I am totally sold this will be a smart move for both parties!

Great decision by the Club and good opportunity for Lodge to fulfill his potential and get his career back on track!

That quoted article was from many years ago - I wonder if he ever did get around to paying his victims anything since then? Mark my words, if he does sign with us, the media will be refreshing everyone's memory about the incident, after leaving it alone until now.

If he plays for us and takes a dive to win us a game I will applaud.

Saint Cameron Smith did just that many, many times and is held in elite regard by all and sundry. We are widely loathed, "roosters way" or not.

So fark them all.

Chanel 7 showed footage of the incident in New York on the evening news. Just to toss it in the Roosters face, Trent was interviewed and said that he spoke with Lodge in a long interview, and concluded that all was ok with Lodge now. I'm happy with that, so time to accept it and move on me thinks.
