    We've developed some quality players.
You have to produce most of your players to win the comp thats the model now. Buying established players every year will get you nowhere & I dont mean the Chooks. The Chooks are doing very well at producing unknowns like Melbourne do but Penrith (Gus setting up their Panthers pathways) had 16 of their 17 last night come through their system. 16 of your top 17 all produced by Penrith. Thats bloody good mate.

yeah it is good but because of the way sydney got bigger with a small eastern suburb surrounded by water or other teams we don't have a big junior base while the panthers have a huge geographical area and a huge junior base. yeah, they produce a lot of players but the juniors pay to play so it's a two way street.

The whole junior base thing doesnt exist, its not about the Chooks have a small nursery because all clubs recruit 15YO's mostly young Islanders either from Western Sydney, South Western Sydney, Queensland & New Zealand.
Clubs have to scout 15 year olds & bring them to their pathways starting out at Harold Mathews. The current Roosters Harold Mathews have players from all areas, the Roosters have identified them as future players & hopefully most of them progress to SG Ball then Flegg.
All the clubs are on an even keel when it comes to juniors.

that's right. our record of developing juniors is pretty good in recent years - we'll buy some established stars but most of our players played their first first grade game with us or were unestablished as first grade players before they came here

We also have the streets of the CBD as our territory..like the QVB, the concourse of Wynyard Station or Martin Place is a real NRL nursery isn't it? Or maybe we can recruit the first kid we see kicking a ball around in Hyde Park..

Yes developed players from the winning u20 squad including Marshke but since then who else has come thru the system and become a constant and regular 1st grader?

I don't agree with the premise of your question. We had a squad which went B2B and haven't needed to bring many more players through. We now have several young forwards coming through to replace an aging pack. If we have salary cap available to strengthen the side with external players then we should spend it.

Other than E Butcher and Baker and the hyped rookie signings of Walker and Joey S there hasn’t been any unknown budget player signings who have shined since Moa. 1 debutant this year in in T May.

SST, Fergo, LOD, Tetevano, Collins, Ikuvalu, Hutcho, Keighran

Even the Moz twins were pretty unheralded signings at the time.

                      It’s been quite underwhelming tbh.

                        That's a massive understatement....

Don't know if you could call origin and test players unheralded.
Hall dog could be an exception .

I wish I could believe you. What happens with other codes and in other countries? I've been meaning to ask as I know many of you on here follow different sports from all over the world. Our tiny boundary would be laughed at world wide and by other codes compared to our 'neighbours'. Randwick Council refers to this interactive map as 'fun'..

                              Cmon big stretch there.
The Morris boys are 2 of the greatest ever, played for their country so can never be classified as unheralded.
Fergo was known to be good but had had issues.
Ika/Hutch/Keighran can’t get games, weren’t consistent, won’t be here much longer. It’s not like the Finucane/Hynes type blokes or Moa/SST
