  • Nanai ????

Matt Lodge isn’t the only forward the Sydney Roosters have been crunching their recruitment numbers on.

Queensland Origin backrower and North Queensland Cowboys forward Jeremiah Nanai is the latest emerging talent the Chooks have got on their radar.

There were a host of clubs queued up for Nanai earlier in the season until he inked a one-year extension with the Cowboys until the end of 2023.

The Cowboys forward will be a free agent again as of November 1 and the Roosters have pinpointed the out-of-the-box backrower as a priority signing.

Still only 19, Nanai has shown a freakish knack for putting himself in the right position to score tries bagging 11 four-pointers in only 13 games this season.

Give Whyte an extended run in the team before going to market . Never know he could be just as good if given a proper chance

Sorry, I should've said it was a copy and paste from foxsports website..................so we can probably take it with a grain of salt.
It's not a signing that would make a lot of sense, as I think we are well stocked in the backrow.

Not sure our backrow is that well stocked tbh especially if we lose Crichton.

Ebutch, Whyte probably the best at the moment but not at Nanai's level yet.
This bloke is 19 years old and already a very good player.
It is very rare to find a player this young who is a permanent in first grade and is already considered a future star. We are lucky we have two in first grade and probably one or two more in our lower grades who could be stars soon.
I think he would be a great signing but as said, we are linked with everyone so who knows the truth to this rumour.

I agree, but at the cost of who? Young Egan will be a great backrower.

Fox Sports needs to churn out non-stop content, so most of their 'stories' are absolute nonsense.

Line up every single off-contract or promising player and somehow by default they will be linked to the Chooks !

I don't mind the kid as a player but perhaps the money and focus could be utilised elsewhere as a priority i.e. Forwards, backs and perhaps a future 5/8 ? These are our potential areas of concern !

Give Naufahu Whyte a proper go plus Nanai is 19 years of age and doing very well (arguably Dally M Rookie of the Year front-runner) but we've got some young, up and coming talent of our own that we should look into as well i.e. Ethan Roberts and Zach Fittler so I don't see the point of going after Nanai in all honesty. I just hope that this is some typical media hype talk to up his market value and interest.

It is part of the game. Make an offer without paying overs. If they say no it is still a small win because the opposition forced to pay more.

                      Well stocked? Really?
We have one second rower who can’t catch and one that plays well below his capacity most weeks.

Fittler is 15 mate. Don’t you want another premiership next year or the year after?

I thought he was 17 to be honest (I know he plays Under 17s Harold Matthews) so I just thought he was around that age and not too far off. Oh well, looks like it'll be a few more years then.

Yes, yes I do want to win another premiership. I want us to win this year, the next, the year after that and keep winning till the day I die and then keep winning beyond that !

I want us to be the first to play and win a premiership on Mars in the year 2098 as well !

I’ve said it before. Our whole pack bar lock and hooker (with Smith coming) needs open heart surgery.

I think Sitili and Angus are a good pair of 2nd rowers.
Perhaps Crightons form this season hasn't been his best, but he's far from finished. And Sitilli has been great.
Behind them you've got the Butcher bros and Wyte plus assorted junior burgers.
Maybe you could argue that we're not as well stocked as I make out, but I feel we've got other priorities that trump signing a bloke like Nanai. I'd rather see Haas or Burton, and some better depth in the three-quarters.
