Samsung considers whether to dump Roosters

    By Martin Vedris

SYDNEY: Sydney Roosters player, and Queensland State Of Origin representative, Nate Myles, has stained more than his reputation after his drunken incident has caused Samsung Australia to carefully consider its sponsorship of Rugby League.

Myles has been suspended by the National Rugby League for being drunk, nude and defecating in public in a hotel. However, the incident has also caused Samsung Electronics Australia to reconsider its sponsorship of the sport.

In a bid to keep its reputation clean, Samsung Australia issued this statement today:

“As a sponsor of Rugby League, Samsung remains deeply concerned about any player or team whose actions may ultimately bring the game into disrepute. We are working closely with Roosters management to better understand the situation and the club’s position. Once these discussions have concluded, we will be sure to keep the media and public informed about the status of our future partnership.”

The statement was issued to media in reference to an event it had planned for tomorrow but cancelled it in light of the Myles incident.

“Given the speculation in the media today, tomorrow’s event with Essendon, HockeyRoos and the Roosters has been postponed. The aim of the get-together was to celebrate Australian sport and the spirit of partnerships, however there is now some concern that the intended inspiration behind the event will be overshadowed.”

This is what I was afraid of. Idiot players need to be constantly reminded of the high stakes game they are playing when they misbehave as it doesn't just affect their own selfish asses. Fark this is annoying and I don't blame Samsung one bit.

sad thing is the samsung has been the iconic sponser for the roosters throughout the ages. imo we will struggle to find anyone else willing to sponser a club in the state we r in.

It has broken my heart. I will always support the team, but IMO most of the coaching staff and club directors must go.
We have so many great youngsters coming up, but we won't get new signings if there is just one more stupid scandal.

Maybe Samsung can turn it into a positive Muzz.

I see Nate in an AD naked with his Samsung mobile attached to a belt with the slogan "dont leave home without it, you may be in the shit".

Noyce's first year has been farked...he has lost control.

his lack of leadership will cost us dearly...he should have punted Freddy , then Friend and Earl.

the fall out could get worse if those two midgets are found guilty

that will spell the end of Samsung and Easts

Its not Noyce, I have seen some of the good work he has done.
It could very well have been a case of Clovelly, Bondi, PAddo and St Charles being Souths clubs if it wasn't for Noyce.

There is more blame to be laid on Politis, smarmy little bastard has turned from the saviour to the destroyer.
I think he wants to be on Australia's next top model

thats a bit of a stretch blaming this on noyce. Punting freddy?? remember there is someone above noyce that does not want fittler sacked and would rather let fittler walk, his name, Nick Politis.

The way noyce has acted and handled the situations at the roosters is second to none. He has fronted the media with an honest and open attitude.

there has been alot of change at the roosters in the back office that noyce has overseen that us fans donot always see. (fisk moving on probably the most noticable change.)

in the end, there are worse ceos than steve noyce.

                            let me ask you this..

if at your work , there are 17 employee's and a manager.

5 employee's at different stages of year showed up drunk, naked, fighting , sh*tting in the foyer waiting for the lift (naked) and then the manager decides that its all too tough - so he also gets p*ssed for the hell of it...

How would the owner of the compnay react?. At what point does the owner say to the CEO - "what the fark are you doing ""?

in relation to your scenario, if employees did what you stat, they would be punished, either by suspension or dismissal.

if a CEO was condoning or supporting this behaviour, then yes the ceo must be questioned, if not removed.

At no time has has Noyce condoned any of the behaviours that have taken place and has acted promptly on each situation.
