Keary has yet to reproduce his form since the knee reconstruction, so I hope he sticks around for at least another season.

Fact is in a game of league there's always going to be head knocks. If its a case of a player being " one head knock away from retirement" then that player should retire before that head knock happens. You're either 100% good to go....or you don't play.
Keary has at least 2-3 years of top line footy left in him if fit. However if there's any doubt in his mind about copping a hit to the head and the ramifications then do the right thing by yourself and your family and call it quits-lifes too short to take that risk
On the other hand he has a couple of kids and if he retires now he will still get paid his full salary until the end of 2024 in which time he will probably retire anyway.
It seems an easy decision for him but I hope he decides to play on.

I hope he doesn't exit early and he gets to walk away on his terms but sometimes in footy, players aren't given the fairy tale ending and this was the case with Cordner, Friend and Bmoz unfortunately.
We need to think about the best tactical options and also what is available for us in our roster or on the market.
Do we promote Manu to five-eighth and look to tweak our backline ? Suallii to centre ? look for a new winger or centre ? or do we go after a new 5/8 ? Burton for example ?
Anyways, as I've said before ... I hope Keary doesn't retire early but regardless of his/the club's decision, we need to look at the future and moving forward !Last edited by DP1990; 07-04-2022, 12:14 PM.

I prefer him to look after himself for the future then risk his future playing on.
I just know Keary & Walker will not be the halves next year whether he retires or not.

I posted 7 weeks ago that if the Chooks didn’t win at least 4 of their last 7 games (we won 2) that there will be changes in the halves for 2023. I stand by that.

I remember it took him something like 60 attempts at a FG in front of the posts to finally nail one. He was taking us for a ride for too long....funny once Cronk came we automatically go B2B.
