May be harsh but I don’t want Keary back because it’s inevitable that a head knock will happen again, it’s only a matter of time. And when it does happen again it will almost certainly be career over. That’s a lot of our salary cap to be risking on a player who is one hit away from retiring. Imagine if it happens Round 1 next year and he is forced into retirement and we can’t go to the market to get a replacement. I think he should retire now. Would be more beneficial to the club. I will always put the club before an individual player.
The thing is though, you can’t just force him to retire lol. If he’s been looked at and the doctors claim he is good to go then he will
play.

I realise. That’s why he should volunteer to retire and why management should be encouraging it. If he doesn’t retire it’s going to cost us. Wait and see.

Or he might yet lead us to another premiership.
There shouldn't be any grey areas here, he's either right or he's not.
Plus he would have the best advice and care possible not to mention ex teammates to counsel him.

He won’t give up 2million dollars if he doesn’t have to medically retire, but I’m sure our powerbrokers would have some plan in place to compensate him.
That’s what i’ve heard, he has gone away with the family for a extended period to officially decide but it looks like he is done. I wish him all the best with whatever he does & thank you for the great memories
lols...........
I brought this up and got hounded by the keyboarders in the know. Your turn.
I think Kez has done enough for this club that he gets to decide when he goes
yep and it's a tricky one and impossible to know what is best without knowing the medical situation exactly.
not sure how rigorously the insurance people look at the situation - what happens if the doctors give him the all clear to proceed but he wants to go

Then he just walks away from his contract with a handshake and no cashish.

I love Kez and I think he has been one tough little hombre the way he would hit the line when he knew he was going to get smashed. But I have to agree with you, he is one knock away from the end of his career. He is in the zone of Cords. Physically ok but mentally not going to go to the line. The club has a huge issue in terms of supporting a club dual premiership player and $900K sitting on the sideline. Tough one for all concerned and the easiest way out is a retirement and a role at the mighty ESDRLFC post playing.

If he wants to go all he has to say is he still gets headaches & the doctors wont give him the all clear. There is no medical test than can see if you have a headache as far as I know.
The concern for Keary is the more concussions you have the easier it is to get concussed. His last head knock from friendly fire of Manu was not a real hard knock compared to some head knocks so without a doubt 1 more head knock is career over.
I wonder if he will wear a head gear for the Saints game. I know they say head gears dont prevent concussion but they must do something.

I strongly disagree. No player is bigger than the club. The club was around a lot longer before Keary and will be around a lot longer after he’s gone. The players don’t get to run the club.
It’s not in the best interest of the club to have our highest paid player on the verge of being medically retired if/when he cops another head knock. It’s too much of a risk.
I respect what Keary has done for the club as much as everyone and I’m extremely appreciative but he needs to retire so we can be active in the market and replace him.

Isn’t he your neighbour?
You should tell him this, face to face.
