So why would a smart guy like Keary risk it? I was surprised he even returned to training.
    Didn’t Cordner return to training?

Yep the whole scenario is very similar. Out for an extended period, announce he is back in full training...

Meanwhile the player gets a chance to come to terms with the retirement decision without a whole lot of media speculation

Agreed don’t get me wrong I think Keary deserves the chance to consider the best option for him and his family. It’s just sad we may not seem him lace up the boots again.

We have an amazing club and sensational culture, it’s this sort of stuff the club really don’t get enough kudos for.

              • Without Kez it will be tough to give the comp a shake but even though our season is on the line if we can't beat the Dragons 13+ after the Panthers performance we should have mad monday this week.

                • It has been quite a long time since we had a strong and consistent spine, week in/week out. Last year we lost Friend and this year Keary. Pretty hard to mount a premiership tilt like that.

Thanks to class actions and the lottery mentality of law suits worldwide.

Meanwhile we have the UFC, where it is considered "sport" to kick the shit out of an opponent's head while they are down on the ground - how do they get away with allowing this?
Because it’s a contact sport that they choose to partake in,train for & live for & they accept it. As far as I’m concerned any time you step on a sporting field you accept the risks & should never be allowed to take legal action (obviously excluding a king hit from behind in Soccer/AFL/NRL ,in UFC it’s fine as you sign up for it), but a high tackle,a elbow to the head, forearm etc it’s par for course. I mean do we get that soft that if a player does an ankle or knee getting tackled that they take legal action. If you don’t accept it don’t accept the pay cheque & don’t step on the field.
I played sports, broke my arm, wrist, nose, lacerated kidney & on life support which was a deliberate act & done under instructions by the playing coach but it’s shit happens play on & deal with it as I’d chosen to be there. I raced cars for 10 years & seen major accidents, comas etc but signed the form saying no liability on tack promoters, governing body etc unless they breached safety standards & I knew any day I could wreck a $200k car with no insurance or support,it’s the way it goes.

Yep surely if the Chooks play as good as what they did against the Panthers they win, dont know about 13 plus though.

Could it be just a game that they’re playing to waste time?
I mean it’s not as if at training they will deliberately hit him in the head or try to knock him out so it’s not like they need to test him with contract training. A month plus for a small head knock says he’s scared, non committal, the clubs scared or a decision has been made & they’re just working things out. I could see it that he knows & the club knows he’s done, but for the media etc they are playing time until the NRL signs off on it. This is exactly the same as Cords,he was coming back, needs more time, then more time, not ready etc & it was all the behinds stuff trying to get the medical retirement & to just keep supporters hopeful & other clubs guessing,as well as letting Keary slowly fade out of the limelight without a media circus.

                            Stop teasing me.
How aggressive was he against Newcastle the other night, he's a farkin beast.
Game breaker, X factor at its best.

The x-factor was the biggest thing.

Latrell's confidence and aura had a flow on effect to the rest of the team. The way he gave it to Chambers after dragging him over the sideline in the GF.

It gives the team a confidence and helps you lose your fear of the gun sides. He shows his teammates that you can beat them.

We really miss that. We just don't seem to believe that we can beat the top sides anymore.
