      • Correct me if I'm wrong, but headgear would have stopped his last head knock.

Why doesn't he wear it, if only for reassurance?

I don't think head gear stops concussion

          • The media is in the cycle of having a short memory, and don’t get me wrong Joey is playing sensational at the moment, but the fact the media and some ‘experts’ are writing off Keary’s impact on the field, I feel are about to be silenced tomorrow night.

Keary is an out and out champion, and despite the head knocks and form dip this year, he only knows heart and giving 100% effort.

I hope the media continues to suggest Roosters should let him go, because I feel he’s coming out strong tomorrow night to remind the doubters just how strong a player he is!

            • As Ive posted before Keary & Walker wont be the Roosters halves next year IMO.
I believe Keary will be the Dolphins marquee signing.
Manu offers more at 5/8 because of his size & speed.

              • Keary is a small body in a brutal sport that's unsurpassed for the intensity of its collisions.

He's also won three premierships. THREE. And a Clive Churchill. Absolutely nothing left to prove.

Why keep playing til it completely ruins you? Only an idiot would do that.

So then who do we sign to replace Manu at centre? Or if we move JS in, who do we sign to play wing outside him?

I think Kez has too much experience for us to just let go, especially when you consider how inexperienced our team is

Rob Toia may be ready to be blooded on the wing next year.

I think the club will promote from within.
Walker, Manu, Debutant, Suaalii, Smith/Momo, Tupou, Teddy.
I think the Roosters will make a play for someone though because they dont have alot of depth in the backs. Lam & Naiqama wont be around next year & it wouldnt surprise me if Keighran signs with the Dolphins so like I said I think they will buy someone plus promote.
Toa Mata'afa, Ethan King, Vuate Karawalevu, Jordan Swann are all in the Roosters system.

i hope keary sees out his contract. if he doesn't then joey will go to 5/8 on less money than keary and we can get a good centre for less than what we're paying joey and we'll have some left over to retain our stars

Any club would be crazy to sign Luke now Mick. They would only get 6 games at most out of him. He's gone next concussion imo and that won't take long judging on his last one. Great player it's a shame for him.

Agree..I just posted something from Instagram into the game day thread about LK.

Quote from the coach "Luke was pretty keen on playing last week but we felt he needed a bit more training. He's ready to go".

                            • I think Keary is thinking about his future and wants to be in the best possible position to grab the deal of his life probably with the dolphins so he’s returning to his spot. It’s a real mystery why he’s missed so many games after being medically cleared. Something of major concern delayed his return and I’m inclined to think he wants to avoid becoming ‘damaged goods’ so he may have been working on his playing style to prevent future knocks.

Isn’t he on 1.1M with us for next year? I can’t see any club - even the Dolphins paying more than that given his concussion history. So I think his big payday is already here.

FWIW My advice would be take the money here and call it quits at the end of ‘23. Whatever it is that has kept him out for the last few weeks, we’ll probably never know but if it is the club erring on the side of caution then this is the best place for him to be.
