The money must have been burning a hole in Robbo's pocket when he decided to splash out on KN
Kevin is not the best player in the NRL, but when Trent signed him Billy Smith and Keary were injured and their playing future an unknown quantity.
Also, Suaalii had yet to prove himself.
Trent bought Kevin as *insurance*,
seems to me.
Kevin can hardly be blamed for our bad season.
There are players being paid much more than he is who haven't lived up to expectation.
Refereeing, Covid and injuries must also share the blame.
Alarmed I was when I switched on my tv yesterday morning to see footage of Teddy, Toops, and Gus walking along a line of Origin fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies, head to head, face to face, breath to breath.
Channel 9 asking "Should football codes return to the bubble".Last edited by bondi.boy; 07-11-2022, 03:54 AM.

The NRL talent market is not infinite and the super talents are even fewer. Kev was and is NRL standard but no world beater and the same can be said for most in the NRL including the majority of the Roosters. In most recruiting the price paid is indicative of the talent on offer so there is an element of the punt in it. In that regard, the Storm appear to be most astute at turning rejects, no names and has beens into real goers but they're pretty much alone in that and not all who leave take their Storm form with them which is why there should be some trepidation about seeing Smith as a transformative signing.
Trent and that canny old Greek avoid buying egos preferring, instead, a formidable spine complemented by first grade competence, footy smarts and dedication to team work - the second tier - which is very much a case of fingers crossed. ATM we lack a talented hooker to make the formula work.
