  • Our Next Five Eight

When Kez ultimately retires we don’t need to buy anyone. Joey Manu should be our next 5/8 and we can safely invest the cash in a centre and a prop.

I really didn't see Manu as a 5/8, but he's proving me wrong. I don't know if he should end up playing there or Fullback, but I know there's no point dropping a million on Munster to play stylistically the same as what we could have Manu play at 5/8.

Hahaha, only a few weeks ago some posters were ruling him out saying he can’t play there. Well hasn’t he shut them up ha ha

Wasn't sold on Manu at 5/8 before this week as I didn't think he had the passing game or the involvement, But am happy to say Trent will have plenty to work with in the off season if Keary decides to hang his boots up.

yep i'm on board. give him an off season of working on his kicking and he'll be formidable.
keary back next week to 5/8 and like robbo said in the presser we need to work things to joey still gets his hand on the ball a lot

We’re mad if we don’t make him long term 6.

Reminds me of Lam who wasn’t supposed be to be 7, but kept John Simon out of the position.

Munster has a monster boot on him, something we sorely need.

                  Manu gets first crack.

Hopefully he can work with a kicking specialist to fine-tune his in play kicks. No need to buy a new 5/8, time to invest into some outside backs moving forward instead !

                    This ^^^

Joey was impressive but I didn’t see enough of his kicking to be 100% sold. Had a great game against average opposition.

A player with that much skill will develop a kicking game over time.
just like it took some time for walker to kick 8 from 9 in a game , I wouldn't be backing against Manu the man is a freak

I just worry that between Joey and Walker our kicking game is too weak.

I think Manu killed it yesterday at 5/8 but my main concern long term is how do you get him to play to our team structure or set plays without hampering his style or the other way around is do we hamper our structure and let Manu run wild.

He may destroy teams below us but I don't think we can beat top teams purely with Manu individual brilliance.

Loved Manu there yesterday. But think we need a 5/8 with a big boot. My first preference is still Burton. Manu obviously needs to get his hands on the ball more and so he plays that roving centre position, coming in when he wants
