  • Radley an Englishman!

Has declared his allegience. Wants to represent England in the World Cup. Makes him ineligible to play for NSW or Australia. It’s a decision he should have made before he was selected in the NSW squad this past series. Wants to do it for his Dad. To me it’s a cop out.

This is disappointing but good to know he won’t have to leave us mid-season for origin duties, assuming he one day might capture his form. I reckon he’s given up trying to crack the NSW side.

He’s a regular at my local cafe. Can’t wait to give it to him.

I saw this on the front of the NRL website as I'm waiting for the extended highlight from yesterday to be uploaded. I didn't click on the story but if he wants to do it for one of his parents, then good for him and his family and they can travel to watch him now that the world has opened up again. I can't begrudge him that. I'm really looking forward to this world cup series. I still have the DVD of the Tri-Nations game from 2006 that went into golden time. A few of us on here went.

Kinda sad that it would mean he couldn't play Origin but makes sense to me.

Just so annoying that QLD and Greg Inglis got all the rules changed (in the typical clunky, nonsensical way that the NRL always does their rule changes) by actively poaching a bunch of NSW dudes with no links to QLD.

To me the international game needs a boost. Nobody who was born and raised in Bondi by an English dad should have to choose 'one or the other' IMO.

Back in 2019 he was a part of the travelling team to NZ for Australia’s last test played against Tonga. He didn’t play but was a part of the squad wearing the team kit.

Rad’s is Aussie-As. I feel sick at the thought of him playing for England.

Probably knows if he wants to play in the World Cup, he doesn’t have a chance to make the Australian team, so chose the guaranteed way in.

good luck to him - it's a big call making himself ineligible for origin selection

He’ll enjoy the free alcohol on the flights.

He’s young. He should stick to representing the place where he was brought up.

I agree, fight to make it back to the form to get him in the picture again.

Surprised that Rads has chosen England but it’s obvious he wants to play in the World Cup.
I remember him being interviewed about SOO & him saying how him & his brothers loved it & how he would love to play it so it’s a shame that he’ll never get to play origin.

Enlighten us as to why it's a "cop out"

The rules on eligibility for the international game are like most of the rules they've inflicted on us locally.
                          They suck.
                          They howl at the moon.
                          Radley is Australian............end of story.

Yeah be interesting to know if the rise of Penrith has played out there. Dare say the Aussie squad will basically be Penrith and Melbourne this time around.

Rads is a solid player who's been earmarked for Origin but as a dual citizen, I'd play for Italy (if I was good enough) ahead of an indefinite wait for something that may never happen due to multiple factors.

Lots of us grow-up in Australia with one parent from another country. Doubt Rads will be the last to make this call.

Yeah stepping on eggshells here (not saying 'white' people suffer disadvantage) but as a white wog, I get sick of people expressing their opinion that I'm not Italian.

Confuses me why people care... and also that people assert I'd have to use my dad's surname + an Italian version of my name to achieve this.

Most people I know are familiar with their own families. Thus, I trust Rads to know if his dad has a funny accent, worships the royal family and calls his son's sport 'roooogby'.
