  • Billy Smith

An article on Billy Smith. I sure hope the young man can come through another round of rehab.

I’m not interested in Billy Smith anymore as a footballer. I wish him luck in life and I hope he can find a decent job.

His head space would be shot right now. Poor kid.

Regardless of what you think of his injury record and time on the field, he needs support from the club right now from a mental health perspective as I imagine he’d be quite vulnerable.

FM I hope that's not what Uncle Nick and Robbo said to him.

Some people are just not built to be Rugba League players. He might be one of them. Can't question his heart though.

            Agreed.

I hope the club supports him and looks after him from a medical/rehab and welfare point of view but the club really needs to move on and think about our future back line options. Unfortunately, Billy Smith doesn't fit in the future state of the club.

I wish him all the best and thank him for wearing the Red, White and Blue !

Big respect and appreciation to his effort, his heart and his tenacious attitude to keep on 'coming back' and giving it a go !

But ... this time ... I think, this is the end of the road for him in first-grade NRL.

I think the roosters are about to sign an outside back. Maybe for the rest of the year and into next who knows but with the release of two players this week this all adds up. Any guesses?

Feel for Billy but even at full fitness he's not first grade standard. Not even close. Verging on useless.

I can still hear Chookpenners enthusiastically touting him as Latrell's replacement. What a joke.

I would of hated to see what was written about Mini when he missed the best part of 5 years with injury.....or James Tedesco if he was at the Roosters during his 2x ACLs then cracked fibula

Billy has the talent and from what I've seen the desire to continue to come back from these injuries, I hope he can play AND star at the Bears next year for a full season before getting thrown in the deep end again

The kid would be on minimum wage and has shown in his debut year and in patches when heathy he is a weapon. Anyone who thinks otherwise must either not watch many games or has a short memory

Going off our outside backs history....probably David Mead

I wouldn't mind Corey Thompson or Greg Marzhew from the Titans though.....

I hope they didn’t say this to him either. They are his managers/bosses. This would be insensitive and inappropriate. I would never speak to my employees like this and I never do speak to my employees like this.

I am a fan. I follow the club. I don’t follow individual players. Of course as a human I wish them all well. It’s not personal. Remember players are paid employees. We’re the life and blood of the club. We’ve been here a lot longer than the club’s employees and we’ll be here a lot longer after they leave. I want what’s best for the club and that means cutting ties with players who are constantly injured and provide little value.
