He was always going to come out hard in his first handful of games, he's playing for his future. I don't see any reason to rush into signing him for next year ... other clubs weren't exactly knocking down the door to sign him when we picked him up.

The Broncos and Warriors as far as clubs go were both malfunctioning messes when he was recruited there, so it was hard to gauge his performance. This is the first decent team he's played with at the top grade.
He looks good so far.

The jury was out re Matt Lodge but he has taken his opportunity at the Roosters and exceeded expectations.
Yes juggle the salary cap deck chairs but get his signature on a contract for at least 2 years ASAP. Runs real hard but how about those quick play the balls- for a guy of his size its incredible.

Matt Lodge has always been a talented prop but was unfortunately stuck in the wrong systems at the wrong Clubs.
It’s no surprise at all that he is fulfilling his potential at a stable club with a coach leading him in the right direction.
Those who are surprised at how good he is playing obviously haven’t seen much of him in the past!Last edited by Lydon; 08-14-2022, 12:20 PM.

His father in law POS at the Dolphins would be thrilled with his form!
Reunion with Bennett perhaps?
A fresh beginning with young family up north beckons perhaps.

[QUOTE=Lydon; Lodge is a must keep!
Totally. My view is that he has boosted the confidence of the side. The concern re the durability of the pack was surely shared by the players as much as it was on the Pen. Now with him and Jarrod in the engine room bending the line the Halves are having a picnic and the other forwards seem more effective. Terrell May looked good yesterday like he just needed a role model. Lodge is one of the best buys in recent times and his coming was sheer happenstance and very, very timely.

Apparently he is quite opinionated and that used to rub other players the wrong way...maybe due to him being competitive. Now coming to the Roosters you can see he respects the club and leaders particularly JWH.....he is the missing link and JWH and him together with our great team will take us to a premiership!!!

He is on his best behavior now because he thinks he can win a premiership at the Roosters, plus he wants a meaty contract. Also likely on his best behaviour because he is possibly scared of JWH.
Harmony in a playing group is vital, incredibly underrated by many on here. I'd rather let Lodge go after we've had him for cheap. He will cause issues mid-term/long-term, that is guaranteed.Last edited by Steakface; 08-14-2022, 12:44 PM.

As hard as it is for some to accept... I get the feeling he's a 'good dude' who made a frigging terrible decision (possibly while on drugs - another terrible decision, but I assume there) and has spent most of his career being reminded of it.
Robbo says he has a good head on him and is playing for all the right reasons. Other than terrorise the shyte out of some people in NYC (who are now millionaires as a result), I don't think he's done anything.
