The tigers players eyes followed the ball and ran back towards it from the time it was kicked, Field was never getting anywhere near it.
Horrible decision by Klein and how he got the top gig in origin underlines the power base in the refs ranks with Sutton and Cummins which has dominated the game for the last decade.

In my opinion I don't think the Tigers player was making a genuine attempt to get to the ball so it was an escort situation and sure the cows player milked it as many other players do - whether it warranted a penalty is another matter not withstanding the confusion at " full time" - Ref's blow the whistle twice for full time but in this case the whistle was blown only once - was the ref giving the cows the opportunity to challenge when he did not want to make the decision - the old flick it to the bunker

No different to the decoy runners running interference and taking out a defender - bunker rules either way - error by the defender and or the decoy runner prevented the defender from further involvement in defence. - and of course the inside /outside shoulder.

Seen many a try pulled back as a result of contact by the decoy runner with the defender when there was zilch possibility of that defender participating further in defence and stopping the try.

In the Parra game they were denied a try by the bunker as a result of contact by the decoy runner with the defender- i.e defender prevented from further involvement in defence in that play - In the Roosters game N Butcher took out a Knights defender as the decoy runner and play continued and the Roosters score - i thought that was similar to the Parra no try - no review by the bunker for the Roosters try and try confirmed.

Easy fix for the decoy runners is to penalise it as they are solely running interference

i had wished the tiggas had won but looking at the cows player being run off the ball he definatly was run off the ball. Just look where the tiggas player is running too. its not towards the ball. he is running away from the area the ball is falling to which is in turn taking out the milking cows player. biggest milk of the season. Exactly...Kyle Feldt was never gonna get anywhere near it....from the point of impact there was still 10metres left to run and two other tigpies players left to dodge...and the ball was almost in the catchers hands.

Common sense rule should have applied...same as a player taken out when going for a try...would he have had a realistic chance to score...same as would Feldt have got to the ball without so called escort. The escort was irrelevant really as the ball was kicked too far for feldt to challenge it.

That's a very good point, but I think you're expecting people to have too much common sense or feel for the game. Unless a player runs TOWARDS a chasing player and nudges him out of the way, any brain dead simpleton could mount a case that a player running with his back towards the chasing player is only trying to get into the best defensive position if the ball is caught and spread wider to the support players running. You could also argue he's trying to get into a better field position if the ball hits the deck and needs to be pounced on to shut down the movement.

The escort rule is the dumbest rule in the game. It is open for abuse by incompetent and corrupt officials - as we saw on the weekend.
