if you look at SBW's try - you may say his arm could have touched the ground before he made a second motion to put the ball over the line - Casty it didn't appear like the ball or arm carrying the ball touched the ground although his hand holding the ball may have? - both could have been ruled either way

But was this a try- 2013 GF - SKD's try- Manly 18 vs Roosters 14 at that stage of the game- The try and Conversion put the Roosters 20-18 in front

If you only have eyes for the ball then you can move in any direction to get there- protecting the player catching the ball has been part of the game since 1908. The escort rule was brought in to stop defending players from deliberately taking attacking players out. This was how it has been interpreted by the officials until the Feldt incident. How many times you see a player taken out but the video ref wont award a penalty because the player in question "only had eyes for the ball". Feldt took a dive because the kick was too deep and he wouldn't have got anywhere near the ball.

I know i'm right on this because Paul Kent said that it was a penalty.....and he is clueless in every facet of the game. You could bet your bottom dollar that if it was Ricky Stuarts Raiders that got dudded Kent wouldn't have thought it was a penalty!
