  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Broncos

It’s great to be back at “home”.

I usually don’t single out players in my thread introductions but I will single out two on this occasion.

The last time we faced Brisbane at the SCG Victor Radley exerted too much energy by constantly running on and off the field. He bullied TPJ who laid on the floor cradled like a little baby. Tonight Victor needs to put his efforts into winning the forward battle and not get side tracked about any individual battle that’s going on. He needs to be a leader. His form since his latest return from injury has been average at best. Tonight he needs to lead the way. He needs to tuck that ball under his arm and play the footy we all know he’s capable of.

Nobody will be keener for a big game tonight than Paul Momirovski. The imprint of Staggs palm print is still tattooed on his face and body. Many thought he was a dud buy after the last time we faced Brisbane. Staggs made him look like a schoolgirl. Tonight Momi has to turn this around. He needs to prove he’s worthy of wearing our great colours.

I don’t care what colours Adam Reynolds wears. He is, and always will be South Sydney scum. Let’s break him tonight!

No excuses. Forwards win matches. Let’s fire up!

    GO ROOSTERS!!

First real test across the past few weeks of wins. They’ve got one or two missing, as do we (Sitili, TKO, Linds). JWH and Lodge will need to etch out big minutes tonight for us, and try get a hold on that middle Haas so often dominates. Momorovski (hopefully) has watched that game back and prepped himself for another raid down his side. Robbo will have him ready. Teddy to go ballistic tonight and get us a W against a top 4 team. As for Reynolds, like you said, South Scum. Whenever I see him, I think of that late tackle he put on Cronk in 2018 in the semis, which triggered the lump on by the rest of those thugs to his shoulder. Let’s humble them tonight.

The broncos at home are always a bogey side for us.

Our bench is looking shonky hoping to see may play a little more mins tonight and most importantly our attack to gel again after last weeks lag.

JWH MOTM for me standing up to Payne.

Watch for Baker to come onto the bench in place of May, Thomas or Hutch. Whilst he hasn’t had the best of seasons, his NRL minutes and experience over the others will see him take his place on the bench.

Big game tonight where a loss would severely dent our finals chances and a win would see us within touching distance of the Broncos

Another must win game for the chooks against a team that has been playing terrific footy until last week's surprising loss against the tigers who have been very good the last fortnight.
The young broncos forwards have stepped up this year and although Carrigan is a huge out as the blokes always in the game with ball and without his replacement Hetherington hits hard just like his old man and I expect his clashes with rads will be a beauty.
Should be a great game and feels like we haven't played at home for ages, I'm hoping the class in our backline will get us over the line.
              Easts to win.

It's time to tear someone a new A-hole.

We need to make a statement tonight.

We are not here to make up the numbers.

We play for premierships, and 2022 is in our sights.

                  GO EASTS!!

There is a lot of talk from so called 'experts' Laurie Daley, Spud Carroll etc to name a couple, saying the roosters are up there with the best in the business at timing their finals run, it seems like we have been building and have now finally got the better part of our squad together since the origin circus minus Sitilli and Collins.

The Broncos are a team on the rise apart from their blip last week. The way they played vs Parra 2 weeks ago, suggests that if they're focused they will prove to be a real handful tonight. I hope the boys focus on the following areas tonight. 1. Discipline. 2. Fast play the balls .3. Roll the broncos down the middle early in the sets and hit our ball players in the later phase of the sets. 4. 80% completion and above, we win tonight.

No sin bins. No stupid knock ons after scoring a try. Let's do the so called 1 % ers our club always talks about and show we are a force to be reckoned with.

                    Fire up lads!!

looking forward to hometime and this game tonight.

hoping we can really stick it to the broncs tonight , they are my most hated team.

come on roosters, statement win to shake the comp please .

no more dumb, throw ball willy nilly in the second half last week.

put these posers for the top 8 away.

Another must win game and one I’m confident we can definetly win!

My only concern is the wet weather as we seem to struggle in the wet, but fingers crossed we can overcome that!

With so much at stake tonight snd the fact that if we win we are only 1 win behind Brisbane I fear a refereeing dry rimming coming our way

Reynolds and Mam are both prone to missing tackles. We should be running plenty of traffic at them, especially Reynolds - he has a habit of scoring against us and I hate it.

Good write-up Thirteen. I like that you've isolated a few players from the game 2 of ours, one of theirs. It's a real opportunity for Momo to grit the teeth and stick it up the critics.

Geez it's now Just Do It time. Our casual approach to early season bankers where we lost has put us in this position.

Expecting a good show. We have a quality backline if we can create some space with quick work in and around the ruck.

The boys want to respect the Old Girl before we bade farewell (thank fk) and win our remainders there.

Brisbane can hurt you, it's a matter of starting well and taking out their confidence early. As others have said, Lodge will have a big game, like him or not.
