I thought both of Oates' tries were forward and the touchie was in line for both. He should have called them.

3 Jared - was immense in the first 40 and good in the second. I think he is really appreciating having another like Prop in Lodge sharing the load and spurring each other on - so much momentum in those tough hit ups.

2 Butch - two try hero his second was a ripper - just steamrolled.

1 Lodge same reasons as JWH.

But Keary and Teddy so good as well. Teddy you just expect it now - Suaalii also very strong as was Toups. We didn't really have a poor performer but we had plenty of poor moments with silly mistakes however it's all coming along nicely now I think.

it will be tight as our run is hard I hope some of those poor losses earlier in the year don't cost us dearly as we are looking like we are a solid chance if we are in the finals.

Yes indeed but it was all part of ref Smiths schooling due to a brother Sutton being the touch judge.

        • Watching a reply I can’t see what Walker has done wrong in the lead up. Obviously they know more then me but apart from the kick that went dead Walker had been great up till that point

          • Yes, well I just watched my taped replay of the game, in the cold light of day.
What was done to Sam Walker by Jared and Victor on the field in front of the other players, fans at the ground, and a worldwide TV audience was, ...disgusting.
There is no excuse for their disgraceful, angry foul-mouth abuse of Sam.
            NO EXCUSE!

Jared and Victor should be hauled into the headmaster's office and TOLD...politely of course, wouldn't want the club being labelled "the foul-mouth abuse club".
Politely but very clearly told that any repeat of such behaviour will be looked upon very seriously.
They should both be made apologise to Sam.

If Trent and co think it was all OK, they should watch the full taped replay...then go read their "What It Means To Be A Rooster" manual.

Yeah I just watched it at NRL.com and the few minutes before the spray he kicked the ball in-goal for a repeat set, passed the ball to Butch on the right then two plays later we scored on the left. I could see nothing wrong. Plus the commentators in the few minutes prior were just praising his game. And this was just 15 minutes into the game and we were up 18-0. It is beyond me what he could have done.

Not going to happen BB...According to Fox, Trent loved it..things happen on field under pressure and Jared & Victor were both literally bleeding for the Roosters at that very moment. At this time of year, it's bound to happen..would you rather follow a. team that's laying down or collapsing like a cheap suit at this time of year? Or follow a team that's not sitting back on their laurels despite an 18-nil lead and continuing to better themselves and each other as the season winds down very quickly? We seem to be out firing with all guns blazing right when we need to be..besides, Sam grew up in a rugby league household as we all very well know..it's not like it would have been a shock to him to learn about how footballers talk, behave and play for each other..I'm sure his dad and uncles did the same in their day..Sam will get his turn one day to then inspire and mentor his own team mates in due course...it's called experience and passion and our club is currently oozing it...

I've just had another look at the game and its definitely Walker they are having a go at. I can't pick up what it was over. The try came in the set from a line drop out which resulted from Walker's kick into the in-goal. Whatever was said, it didn't seem to affect Walker's game but I did notice from that point on there were no more shallow kicks for himself into the in-goal.

Maybe its just me but I've thought Rads has been a little cool towards Walker for a while now. Just looking at his reaction to tries and try assists from Walker recently. Hope there's nothing in it, especially as Rads plays outside Walker and good communication between the 2 will be paramount to our continuing success.

Bit of tough love won't hurt the kid BB. The rushing in for reassuring pats and high 5s when someone has stuffed up isn't for everyone, some people respond to a kick up the backside and grit their teeth and improve.
Robbo is the master at building a bridge over troubled waters and they will get over it.

                      • Really happy with last night's performance in front of a disappointing crowd it must be said.
Suaalii has changed our dynamic with his early set charges which puts us on the front foot and Lodge always manages to find his front for a quick play the ball.
Rads and Gus are back to playing good footy and Nat Butcher has been a godsend on the right edge and our defence has improved noticeably and given Walker more confidence. I thought some of his bootlace tackles were terrific last night.
Keary looks much more settled and Momo had his best game for us.
Teddy was our best for mine and is in stellar form, the two passes he threw for tries were sublime and on top of his running game is proving nearly impossible to stop.
May was strong off the bench and Watson is carving up the middle against tired forwards.
I thought Robbo could have given Ben Thomas a bit more game time since we had the game wrapped up with 15 to go.

i think it was the kicking dead play, no one knew what he was doing, creates a 7 tackle set, then he jogs back into the line, Jared was staring at him, and he didn't even rush back for the first tackle. I'd say he was being chastised for not following the game plan and then the game plan creates a try and Jared was highlighting it.
Definitely Victor is not a fan, that's been obvious for weeks, but who cares, society if full of all different types and those two are very different cats.

                          • Firstly, great performance overall by the Roosters. Reading back through the match-thread and a lot of people freaking out at different points, even though the game was over after 20-minutes. I know it could've been more clinical but the defense was great on the whole, and we'd beat the overwhelming amount of teams in the comp with that performance from last night. Considering we have Tauks, E.Butch and Collins to come back, things are looking pretty good for the time-being.

I think there's a happy medium in criticism of your teammates. I don't agree with calling your teammate a f***wit and viciously berating them, but there are definitely times where a dose of honesty is needed. As an outsider, I can't comment on it and the only people who can are Walker, JWH, Radley and Robinson. If Walker doesn't have an issue with it, then I've got no drama. I did feel Walker went a little into his shell after this, though. Bit of a shame as he looked in a real mood early. His teammates may need to understand he's not Cooper Cronk and won't go for the percentage play all of the time. He'll have a few rocks amongst his diamonds and that's just the player he is, for now at least.

                            A few other thoughts
Great to see Rads getting back to some of his better footy. Looks like he is thinking run first - and run hard.
Suaalii is a monster, and is just one of the best "movers" in the competition. Absolute limousine.
Keary really showing good signs now, too. Watching him score that solo try was a magic moment. That's the Keary we know and love.
Broncos definitely got the rub of the green, although I didn't think the officiating was terrible. Mainly thought Suaalii was entitled to several more penalties.
We will have the best front row rotation in the comp when all our props are back. Going to make us very tough to beat in September if we don't make an excessive amount of errors.

                              • I did notice post game Robbo was having a one on one with Walker so can only assume it may have been about this player exchange.

Of course there are better ways to do this though but not sure JWH and or Radley would do it any other way and JWH is I assume still the Vice Captain

As long as it doesn't affect players minds and have them second guessing what they do on the field at any given point in a game if worried about getting a bollocking from the senior players.
