I was there at the game with my dad and my younger brother, we sat down near the scoreboard corner, what i remember we did a few chances to score when the game was still 0-0 or 2-0 to Parra but couldn't capitalise on them, i remember Mark Harris having probably his worst game ever for Easts, i was really impressed with Kevin Hastings try at the end.Got there before the gates opened as Easts were playing in all three grades but they were soundly beaten in all three of them. It was a long walk back to Kingsford that afternoon as i remember we left by the Paddington gates and walked back via Poate Rd and Cook Rd to get back home instead of leaving via Driver ave.

I think that was the first game I really watched properly. I was young at the time and watched it on the tv with my Dad and the neighbours at their house. Then after that game I became more interested in rugby league and it confirmed to me that Easts was my team. I also remember watching the drawn grand final (not sure if it was the following week?), at the neighbours also with dad.

Unbeknown to this company he was arranging for folk in trucks to come in late at night to "take" all types of these tyres to different locations across Sydney - i.e Storage units and what not - to be sold onto others black market like.

The above activity involved 1 million dollars plus worth of Tyres.

He was represented by the Marsden Brothers ( John and Jim) in court and only received a community service order

          Hence the nickname Tyres

This was when he was playing for Western Suburbs Magpies

The pass from Marty Gurr was a great one so there was no reason McFarlane should have dropped it, it was heartbreaking, did you notice the ball boy jump for joy when McFarlane spilled the ball

As you say i think they played their Grand Final in round 21 where they demolished Parramatta, they lost to Wests the following week 20-22 then had the week off and looked so under prepared for the major semi against Parramatta.
I posted the highlights from the Parra semi in the classic Roosters matches in the Rugby League discussion forum.

Yes i watched some of the 1977 Final not long ago, i remember being there back in 1977, Easts had a few chances, not sure how i think it was Terry Murphy missed scoring off the bomb. Great try from Kevin Hastings at the end but the game was already over by then, Easts really lost any chance of competing against Parra or Saints for the Grand Final that year once Arthur Beetson was suspended in the semi against St George.
I was at that game in 1977 as a 10yo. It was the first ever NSWRL game that I attended. Can remember Artie being sent off and going home bitterly disappointed

From memory Kevin Stevens scored a try after Beetson was sent off which gave Easts a 14-9 lead and i thought they may hold on but the extra man advantage St George had was telling in the closing stages of the match.

Watched the Youtube video of it earlier. I ended up playing against two of the Parra players that plaeyed in that game. Ron Hilditch came out to Mudgee in 1986 as captain Coach and brough Phil Mann with him. Tallest man I ever played against, absolute giant
