That said, what would Maubs' salary have been? IMO if you can get about $350k a year for a good decade while playing ~30 minutes a game (less likelihood of injury...etc) then I reckon it's a pretty sweet gig when compared with $500k as a starting half.

I reckon Maubs would be set from all the coin he's made (plus has 3 premiership rings in his jewellery box). I'd say there's a lot of much better paid players out there with less to their name (and more chronic injuries...etc) after their NRL careers have ended.
Watson has shown in the last 6 weeks he gives better value as a running forward than a hooker. Hutch isn't a 80 minute player...

Hope Cheese owns it, because I really like Verrills and it's obvious that he is starting to get back to the 2019 form that made him such a hot prospect

Didnt say meaningless joke, said they lost credibility which in my eyes when Wighton won it and when Brooks got halfback of the year they did. You take it with a grain of salt in those instances.
Many would say Smith should be starting instead of Grant. Grant didnt even start SOO. Watch Smith in the test match he is a fantastic number nine.

So the Dally M's only mean something if they suit what you're saying?

I have a very uneasy feeling about the cheese signing. I hope I’m wrong & he comes here & kills it. I can just see us wanting Sammy back after both their 2 year contracts run out.

Thanks very much Sam for your contributions to the mighty Roosters, particularly has others have already stated, for the 2019 grand final. Great positive role model for a cause no family should ever have to personally experience. It's been a joy and a privilege to watch him play at such an early stage in his career. Good luck at the Gold Coast and they are lucky to have him.

No didn't say that either. If you can find a post where I've used the Dally M to form an argument as to why a player is good then I'll let you have this one lol

This is shit news Sammy is a Rooster injuries have been his Achilles heel imo this is why the Roosters went hard for B.Smith after his run in 19’ he was a certainty to be the successor for Jake how that ACL cruelled him then a string of other injuries best of luck Sammy Grand Final try premiership ring thank you for your service young man a good rake even better human.

I think this is a decision the Chooks will regret. We have been a much better team since Verrills has been back. Good luck to him

I find this to be genuinely disappointing. I think the young bloke can play, that’s why Robbo started him in the 2019 GF and look at the improvement we have had since his sustained return to first grade this year. I wasn’t keen on Smith as I don’t think he passes the no dickhead test and he hasn’t been proving me wrong ever since. I also think he has not played anywhere near the level that he was signed at. Verrills is a perfect rooster type character and good player. I hope this decision doesn’t blow up on us.
