The same thought occurred to me. Redfern oval had a real atmosphere back in the day. The problem is that it's an oval, has just that one stand and there is too much hill for modern crowds. The area is also gentrified, the old working class pretty much gone.
Maybe the whole thing is a ploy to further impose V'landis' vision on the State government?

Souths signed an agreement in November 21 to stay at Accor till 2030. Solly said they expected Accor to be renovated when they signed, but the NRL and State governmnet had already agreed the money will used in suburban grounds instead of Accor well before Novermber 21.Comment
