I would be a chance of coaching successfully, even within the rules and spirit the game was originally intended, a team with Slater, Cronk, and others.

The guy has made an "art" out of strangle tackles, chicken wing tackles, turtle tackles. The fact that our game is largely determined by who wrestles and chokes the most in tackles and gets away with it, brings me to admire Bellamy all the less. He has made the game less about rugby league and more about dirty, stinking, cheating, unsafe defense.

He has a good enough playing roster to try and win without cheating. I think he is a blight on the game.

Oh yes, I forgot, and they cheated the cap by 70 billion, trillion dollars or so, and coach Bellamy knew nothing about it. Yeah right.

Bellamy, with the help of some great players like Slater and Cronk (I won't include Smith as he is the worst offender in the entire NRL for strangle/grapple tackles), is the coach to be envied by (nearly) all at the moment.

To me he is a cheating, win at all costs low-life. I wouldn't give him 5 bob to come to Easts.
Fabulous post. I bow down to you.

So what is the option stay staunch and not wrestle?

As far as Bellamy goes, his team is well drilled, sharp and disciplined. His players want to play for him and each other, every player knows his job. No matter how many players have come and gone over the years they do not miss a beat.

Just watch a replay (if you can bear it) of last Sunday's game. Notice the blatant difference in the way the refs talk to the defending players in the ruck. The Roosters players are being warned INSTANTLY to "get off him" or to "move" or "Jarred, get out of there". With the Storm players, the refs are silent as Trappist monks.
This happens every week Spirit. I listen to the refs on SportsEars at the game and it drives me mental that every time our blokes put a fingernail on the opponent they are immediately instructed to "moove" or somilar. Meanwhile the opposition can have our blokes in a headlock and not a peep is said!

I was doing my block during the Panthers game when they were lying all over us and the refs did nothing.

If I had a dollar for every time Jake and Jarrod are warned by the refs, I'd be shouting drinks back at the Club each home game.

I know, I should just throw the SportsEars away but I'm a glutton for punishment.

          NC
NC I think we get crapped on as well but we bring this on ourselves a lot of the time. Most of our players are just plain dumb and lazy in the tackle. Jake Friend is by far our worst offender and lucky he is not penalised more. He lays all over players and sometimes it is so bad I honestly think he doesn't give a rats if he is penalised....or maybe he is just dumb. But sometimes he looks like he has just had enough of the whole bloody thing.

We are just not a smart football team and very ill disciplined. The refs will always hammer a team like ours before they have a go at a successful team.
We were lucky Anasta was not sin binned on the weekend. The leg pull when he was lying on the ground, behind the ruck, when the storm was 1 metre out , was a professional foul if I have ever seen one.

And that's why you'd sign him for 1.2Mill per for 5 years with the simple instructions - make us winners.

              Chook.

In regards to the wrestle there is an old saying "If you cant beat them join them" it is as simple as that. Back in 02 we bought in the gang tackle and every team had to play that style to compete. At the time Anderson at the Sharks stayed Staunch and played expansive Kimorley played flat we played them in that major semi and destroyed them. Anderson persisted the following year lol still complaining about the gangtackle.
My question is why cant we wrestle? We lay on players and get penalised.

My son competed in his second Judo tournament on the weekend and I couldnt help but think how good it would be as part of the Roosters training roster to get some Judo in there somehow? Im sure they do similar already but it just struck me while I was watching him proudly!

The only form of "training" these idiots will do in terms of any martial art is to just invite UFC fighters to the club and report it online.

Or better still see if you can find the Melb Storm website or equivalent and spread your Bellamy love there instead.

Steve Jancetic AAP Wed, Mar 28, 2012 - 5:15 PM

Off-contract Sydney Roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello says he's unfazed by rumours the NRL glamour club is chasing Manly star Brett Stewart to wear the tri-colours' No.1 in 2013.

The Roosters are considered favourites to snare the prolific tryscorer, who is believed to be chasing a $2.4 million four-year deal for what would be the 28-year-old's last big contract.

Minichiello, 32 in May, had little to say on his own future beyond this season, but said he'd need to see the Stewart signing to actually believe it.

"There's always rumours that everyone's coming to the Roosters so that doesn't worry me at all," Minichiello said on Wednesday.

"Any player that's off contract is always linked with the Roosters ... that's always been (the way) since I've been at the club the past 15 or 16 years.

"There's always players that are linked to the club and it never happens anyway."

The signing of Stewart would end Minichiello's time at the Roosters, with suggestions he could land a deal to finish his career playing rugby union in Europe.

"I'm letting my manager handle all that. Obviously if I wanted to sit down with the Roosters now, they're willing to sit down and talk about it," Minichiello said.

"I'm just going to leave that in my manager's hands and I'm just going to concentrate on playing footy for the Roosters."
