I definately see Cordner playing FG for a long time I believe he will become an Australian player but from my observations this year he just isnt quite there. Coming of the bench I would agree with.
I would say that out of all the young guns, he is my favourite. I'm sure there are others that shouldn't be there but like I say, we don't have the Myles, Soliola or any other older players to come in and take charge. unfortunately we'll have to stay patient even with the refs against us. As I said a few weeks ago, if we can survive till after the SOO with this team and scramble some points, we should be having some young guys with experience to take us into the finals and hopefully stagger into the 8. If we give up on them now, then we wont have an experienced team come round 26.

The guy is only 19 & my suggestion is only for this year, bit more Newtown put on 5kg & get a bit bigger & stronger play some FG because others are injured & hopefully have him tough ready for FG next year.
The bloke is 101kg and 6 foot 2. His size is fine. If you were talking about a player who has the Mark Edmonson disease (6 foot 2, 80kg) then I could understand why. But Cordner's size right now is fine for the position he plays. Have to agree on the call about him getting stronger though, he's a bit of a powderpuff.

For those saying that he isn't ready, who are we going to replace him with? All these young guys have a good game when we want them in there until he has a bad game when we then don't want him in there. It's a sign of immaturity that they can't be consistent but replacing him is not an option when we're the youngest team in the comp, well as far as forwards go. I say he is good and backs himself to try something new, like a grubber kick yesterday and in the 1st game.
I would say the one disappointing player upto now, for me, is BJ Leilua. Not sure where he's head is ATM.

        Good post

I hear the Dragons and Tigers are after BJ....I think he has what it takes to be an awesome centre but we cant seem to get him to play, switching him from centre to wing to newtown doesnt help.
I like him at centre with SKD now we just need two big express wingers.

I see Cordner outside my front fence catching the bus, he is a unit but you can see he is still a boy and that transition of him turning into a man is a bad one in terms of injuries and burn out... I agree with Patch should be coming off the bench.

                And I highly rate him.
The player that belongs in the Newtown colours is none other than SKD. He has no idea in defense and no idea how to tackle. Opposition teams know this and attack his side at every chance they get. How the phark he has lasted so long in the top grade is beyond comprehension. He makes players around him nervous because they know he is in three minds.

SKD is great at creating overlaps. Too bad it is for the other team.

I'm with you on this. It is round 4 and we are 2 & 2. We need to have patience and try to stay around that 50% mark and be positioned for a run at the 8 after origin.

It's all about this squad taking the knocks, getting the experience and jagging the wins as we can.

Don't get me wrong, I have no illusions about grand finals or even getting past week one of the finals but bottom of the eight needs one win over 50%. Any team not aspiring to that is not aspiring very high.

Its a long way from that....even if we had lost all 4 games its too early to call a season a write-off.

As it is we have one 50% win rate early on....have faith and enjoy the ride...its bound to be a bit bumpy!

From where I sit I see it 0 and 4, imo the way we have come out of pre season is a disgrace

What illusions did we have in 2010 after getting the spoon in 09? None I bet. I agree with you but things can happen.

We need a 6 that can get him some good early ball so we can see him use his footwork and keep the defence guessing with his strength and offload.

Would be nice if he had a fast winger outside him also and a quick smart talented FB chiming in around him.
